We recently connected with Lauren Souter and have shared our conversation below.
Lauren, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I have a lot of friends who have different creative interests and skills and who are always willing to go along with my ideas for photography shoots. I’ll get inspiration from an accessory or outfit that I see and I’m able to have a network of people who are there to help me make my vision come alive.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I love what I do! I own a Photography business named Ryker Photography. I offer photography and retouching services for any portrait or occasion. While I can do any range of editing aesthetic, most clients can see that I love enhancing colors in my work. I want your images to pop and make you feel something when you look at them, and I want you to feel like you are there in them.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, consistency was the major thing that led me to where I’m at now. When I first picked up a camera I had no idea what I was doing, and my first couple years are proof of that. There were a lot of photos I wasn’t proud of, but I always found inspiration in other peoples work which kept me motivated. I kind of just kept chipping away at it and changing my editing style to what I loved versus what I thought I should be doing and that’s when I excelled the most.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Over the past year I’ve had chance to dedicate most of my time on my photography, and it’s grown so much. I’ve been able to focus more on the business side of it as well and what works best for my clients as well as myself. I think when you’re more confident in what you communicate and offer then it’s more beneficial for everyone involved. It’s been the busiest year Ive had to far and it’s been amazing and I’m so grateful!
