We recently connected with Lauren Witherspoon and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
It took me years to realize what my purpose was. Over time, I realized that I had been working in my purpose all along. As a believer, I receive all of my answers that I require from God himself. He is my guide, and he orchestrates my steps on my life path accordingly. I have had many conversations with him about this topic. At times, it was frustrating to not receive an immediate answer. However, I have realized that sometimes he will provide his answers through experiences.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I consider myself as a multi-faceted individual. There are many layers that define me. I take on quite a few roles. For example, not only am I a serial entrepreneur, but also a high fashion model, pageant queen, professional, dog mom, athlete, sports coach, mentor, and more! The list keeps growing and growing. Wearing multiple hats allows me to pursue a unique lifestyle and stand out as a role model for others. Nowadays, it can be challenging to stand out from the masses. Everyone always wants to take the easy route and follow what everyone else is doing. I like to find ways to serve as a pioneer and explore different opportunities that have not been accessed.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
After thinking about my past, I have recognized three qualities that have impacted my life tremendously. These three qualities include my parents, sports, and school. My parents, Larry and Tralise Witherspoon, are both successful entrepreneurs. They have always been a major inspiration in my life. They have steered my life in a way that has allowed me to be where I am today. We have had many disagreements throughout the process. But I realized that no lifestyle is perfect. We are all raised in different ways. You must learn from those experiences to help others who may be going through a similar experience. So I am very grateful for my parents!

Being a multi-sport athlete has impacted my body and mindset tremendously throughout my life. From elementary to college, I played basketball, lacrosse, and rugby professionally. Currently, I am still playing lacrosse as a post-collegiate athlete. Collectively, I can say that I definitely gained new skills and ideas from each sport.

Attending school is another quality that made a positive impact on my lifestyle. I was very serious about school. So serious that I went on to receive my MBA in college. I wanted to make sure that I was equipped with all the knowledge, skills, and qualities that I needed to pursue my current lifestyle. Pursuing my MBA was the best decision that I could’ve made.

My advice to others is to strive to gain new knowledge, skills, and qualities that will allow you to stand out! That way, you can pursue different opportunities; adjust to change; and be applicable to anything that you pursue. Having this mindset will allow individuals to lead by example.
