We recently connected with Leah Avigdori and have shared our conversation below.
Leah, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficulties. Last year I was given the perfect opportunity to practice resilience. Feeling very confident and empowered to go out on my own and start my own business, I did just that. Ten days later, I was met with betrayal in my personal life. It brings you to your knees and you feel like you can’t go on. But I did. I showed up to work, took care of my clients and took care of my kids. I had been broken open and it was one of the most painful moments in my life. But I chose to look deep into the pain. To feel it. To release it. To let it transform me. Every single person on this planet goes through difficulties and struggles, but we all have the choice to transmute it into something better. The healing process is non linear and one you have to be kind to yourself throughout. But once you do, beautiful things emerge. Trusting the notion that everything happens FOR me and not TO me, gave me strength and opened me up to so many unexpected career opportunities. I’ve now expanded into a beautiful new space in Beverly Hills in which I get to create a beautiful healing collective of skin and body practitioners! There is always light on the other side of darkness!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Currently my business, Leah Avigdori Skincare, has expanded into a beautiful new location in Beverly Hills! It all happened so fast and I dove right in when the opportunity presented itself. I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it work but moved forward with lots of faith and everything fell into place. From this place, Skin + Body Collective was born. I’ve brought together a collective of exceptional estheticians, energy healers, body workers and soon to come educational trainings, workshops and events! That is the part that feels the most fun and exciting and where I really get to be creative! I am envisioning focused esthetics trainings, educational and self enrichment workshops, ceremonial gatherings, intimate sound baths, the sky’s the limit! The energy of the building feels so good and the people that have come in are all so special and talented and such high vibrational beings! We can’t wait to share all the love and excitement with our clients and community!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Experience, especially the not so good ones. They really show you what you want and don’t want within your career and foster a lot of appreciation and gratitude.
Classes within the niche of your interests. I loved taking classes, connective tissue massage, vodder lymphatic drainage etc., that enhanced my skills and value as an esthetician.
Connection. When you really connect to your clients and what you’re giving during your treatments with intention, your clients will feel it. It will be a feeling or energy that will relax their nervous system and get only from you. They will connect with it on a conscious or unconscious level and become loyal, happy clients.
If you are just starting out on in your career in skincare, get as much experience as possible, learn as much as possible and be the most authentic version of yourself!
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
While I’m still in the beginning stages of developing the educational and event branch of Skin + Body Collective, I’m always looking for talented, gifted, knowledgable and spiritual individuals to come in and collaborate with us! Ideas and proposals can be sent to [email protected].
