Meet Leah Love

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Leah Love. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Leah, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I believe that finding our purpose is the most important task we have while here on earth. I’ve always found my purpose in the things I am a magnet to. For me, it has always lied in the things I have felted compelled by in a physical or spiritual way. I have always been an athlete and for me that was a life changing experience because I learned the true meaning of commitment and discipline. I was able to carry those skill sets into different areas of my life overtime. I’ve learned that finding your purpose doesn’t necessarily mean you wake up one day and just know who you are and what you want from life! No, it takes time, and it takes experience to truly know what you were made for in this world. It takes time to understand what you enjoy, what sets your heart on fire and how you were made to make this world a better place. One thing is for sure, I have never taken finding my purpose lightly. I try to be intentional about the person I am and the person I’m still becoming because I know the that I have an impact on those around me, as an example. It is something that is important because I don’t ever want anyone to feel like impossible is the norm. Everyone deserves to know what it feels like to believe in themselves. Everyone deserves to know what it feels like to live in your passions and strengths, unapologetically!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am the new author of my poetry book, Chocolate Affirmations. I also own health and fitness company called, Life with Leah. I am a big advocate for self-love, health, wellness and fitness. During my self- discovery of getting to know myself on a deeper level, I started writing my poetry book, which contains excerpts from my journal entries. This is a culmination of my thoughts, fears, frustration, hopes, dreams and curiosities all with the common goal of empowering and uplifting other black women who may also need it. I’ve learned that growth comes from vulnerability in the deepest sense. The more vulnerable and open I become the more I am able to expand my own personal and professional endeavors at a higher capacity.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I would say looking back the three qualities or areas of knowledge that were most impactful for me were discipline, commitment, and consistency. Having discipline is a staple for getting things done. Commitment will get you through any task and help you achieve your goals. Next, there is consistency which is the Queen of them all. Being consistent allows other people to see what they need to know about you. Our consistencies reflect where our focus is and that is telling for ourselves and for others.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

I would say the most impactful thing my parents did for me was allowing me to express myself openly and freely. I’ve always been a very energetic person and instead of finding what was wrong with me, my parents always encouraged me to express myself through art and movement. This allowed me to still have fun with movement but also learn very valuable lessons and skill sets along the way.
