Meet Leah Weinberg

We recently connected with Leah Weinberg and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Leah, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

My journey to finding my purpose as an attorney is a bit unconventional, but it’s a story I’m proud of. I was a wedding planner for nearly a decade. But before that, I went to law school, practiced commercial real estate law, and felt completely unfulfilled. Eventually, I found my passion in planning weddings, where I could combine logistics, creativity, and human connection.

But as much as I loved it, the burnout eventually set in — especially during the pandemic. I realized that while I enjoyed the work, the industry itself was taking a toll on me. Then one day, while driving to a site visit, it hit me: what if I could use my legal background and my wedding industry experience to support other small business owners like me? I knew firsthand how confusing and stressful the legal side of business could be, and I wanted to make it easier for creative entrepreneurs to feel legally secure and supported. That’s how Weinberg Legal was born — a pivot that turned into a purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Weinberg Legal is a boutique law firm that serves small business owners, particularly creative entrepreneurs and wedding and event professionals. What makes my practice unique is that I bring both legal expertise and real-world experience to the table. I’ve been where my clients are — running a small business, navigating challenges, and trying to protect what I’ve built. That firsthand experience allows me to offer not just legal advice, but practical, compassionate guidance.

Whether it’s drafting contracts, offering strategic counsel, or helping navigate tricky client relationships, my goal is to make legal support accessible, approachable, and genuinely helpful. I’m not just a lawyer — I’m a partner in my clients’ success.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

There are three skills that have shaped my professional journey: empathy, organization, and troubleshooting/problem-solving.

Empathy: My ability to put myself in my clients’ shoes is invaluable. I know what it’s like to put everything on the line as an entrepreneur. That emotional connection means I can counsel them through difficult situations with understanding and practical legal advice.

Organization: Staying organized is crucial when managing a high volume of client projects. My time management and scheduling skills help ensure that nothing falls through the cracks.

Troubleshooting/Problem Solving: I’m naturally inclined to think of every potential issue and proactively find solutions. Contracts are a key part of this, but I also help clients navigate unexpected challenges with both legal and practical strategies.

A lot of people have these traits innately, but if someone doesn’t, there are absolutely ways to train these muscles. Start by cultivating empathy through active listening and compassion in your personal relationships. Open yourself up there so that you can develop higher emotional intelligence that you can then bring to your business. Improve organization by creating systems that streamline both personal and professional tasks. And finally with troubleshooting and problem solving, let your imagination soar! Practice brainstorming solutions for hypothetical challenges — it builds the mental muscle needed to really think on your feet.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is a small business owner or entrepreneur — especially wedding and event professionals — who may not have previously worked with an attorney on their business agreements. Whether they’re just starting out or have been in the game for a while, I’m here to help craft solid, clear contracts that reflect their unique needs and ensure their businesses are legally sound.
