Hi Leanna, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Confidence and self-esteem aren’t something you go searching for in some hidden place, they already live inside of you. They just need to be unlocked and nurtured to truly blossom.
For me, that unlocking started when I stepped out of my comfort zone after struggling with low self-esteem for years. I reached a point where I decided that the person staring back at me in the mirror would no longer be a stranger, she would be who I chose to become.
The first thing I noticed I lacked confidence in was my hair. It had been one of my biggest insecurities for as long as I could remember. I learned that the very thing you avoid the most is often the thing you need to face head on to build confidence. I did my research and decided to start my loc journey.
That first year was one of the hardest years of my life. I felt so self-conscious going out in public, exposing my natural hair without hiding under a beanie or scarf. I had faith in the process and I stayed committed. Over time, I watched my hair grow and my resilience grow even faster. That journey became proof that if I could embrace the “ugly phase” and still show up for myself, I could become exactly who I wanted to be.
That experience taught me the power of discomfort. From there, I became more comfortable leaning into my fears especially if it meant growth.
The next big leap that unlocked another level of confidence, was quitting a popular waxing chain after three years to become a solo esthetician. It was the scariest decision I’d ever made! Not leaving a job for another, but leaving to bet entirely on myself. I planned, prepped, and gave myself a final deadline to leave, even though I had no guarantee I’d land on my feet. But because of my loc journey, I knew that if I let fear take over, I’d never see who I could truly become.
Confidence isn’t built through comfort. It’s built by doing the things that challenge you, stretch you, and push you past your limits. Every time you prove to yourself that you’re capable, you unlock another layer of your self-esteem and that’s how I became the woman I am today.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a Full Body Waxing Expert with four years of experience and a 2x Certified Intimate Lightening Specialist! My journey began in 2021 at a popular waxing chain, right as everything began to open back up after the pandemic. That’s where I fell in love! Not just with the art of waxing, but with the amazing community of women and men who trusted me with their self-care.
When I first became an esthetician, my goal was to correct skin concerns as a facialist. But once I began working as a waxing specialist, I quickly realized that skin concerns don’t stop at the face, they exist in intimate areas too. Working for a chain, I noticed that these concerns were often only addressed through products, not personalized services. That’s when I decided I wanted to go beyond surface-level solutions and create something that truly treated the skin.
When I left to pursue my solo career, my mission became clear; to provide intimate skincare products and services that address ingrowns, hyperpigmentation, dehydrated skin, and uneven skin tone. From there, I became a Vagacial Specialist offering skin treatments designed specifically for the vaginal area — and earned my certifications as an Intimate Lightening Specialist.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back on my journey, the three qualities that had the biggest impact on my success are customer service, ambition, and vision.
Customer service plays a huge role in my growth because I always looked beyond the service itself. I make it a priority to cater to each individual, ensuring they feel comfortable, heard, and never rushed. My focus wasn’t just on performing the service, it was on creating an experience. Because of that, my clients began rebooking with me month after month and committing to their results long-term.
Ambition is the quality that pushes me to become the best esthetician in my area. I invest in myself by taking additional classes and watching countless videos to continuously sharpen my skills. I refuse to settle, and that determination helps me rise above the average experience and deliver exceptional results.
Vision was what allows me to see beyond where I started. I knew my career as an esthetician didn’t end at the wax chain it began there. I recognized the deeper needs women had when it came to their skincare journey, and I decided to create a space that addressed those needs. That vision became Anew Luxury.
My advice to anyone starting this journey is to get clear on your “why.” Your why is your mission statement, the fuel behind every goal you set. Ask yourself: Why am I pursuing this path? If I achieve this goal, how will my life change?
Don’t choose a journey because it looks shiny or easy. The truth is, it won’t always be pretty and the only thing that will push you through the challenges is your why. Sit down, reflect, and write from your heart about why you feel called to do what you do. Once you’re clear on that, no obstacle can stop you from becoming who you’re meant to be.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking for people to collaborate with! Being from a big place like LA, it can be challenging to find individuals who genuinely want to come together for a bigger cause. I’m looking to connect and collaborate with people who share the same mission, the mission of self-empowerment and pouring into women and men to help them build confidence and self-esteem.
I want to work with like-minded creators, entrepreneurs, and brands who are passionate about creating an experience that makes a real impact not just on the outside, but on how people feel about themselves.
