Meet Leanne Jamison

We recently connected with Leanne Jamison and have shared our conversation below.

Leanne, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

First, I believe overcoming imposter syndrome is an ongoing process each time I uplevel. There are always new rooms to enter into and new doors to open with new opportunities to learn. When each door is opened, there is a new crowd in there that knows more than I do. I love learning and embracing new opportunities, and with each comes just a smidge of imposter syndrome…at least until I gain my footing and become more comfortable. And I know that when I become comfortable, this is often a sign that it’s time to open another door and move onto the next level of growth.

I remember one of my first mentors who helped me overcome one of my earliest professional levels of imposter syndrome. It was my Clinical Supervisor, Nancy Stockwell. At that time, I was working in a treatment center for addiction and recovery that was known for its treatment of doctors, lawyers, and pilots. I was leading a group in Mindfulness and Recovery. I remember talking to Nancy about my hangups and fears because “who was I to teach anything to these professionals?! They know so much more than I do!”. She looked at me with conviction and compassion and told me, “They are just people, human beings, just like you. They have fears and faults just like you. They have dreams and hopes just like you. They are just people.”

This conversation stuck with me since that was almost 15 years ago. This conversation changed my perception of others and myself. Not only did it help me overcome that moment of imposter syndrome, but it also helped me with my self-compassion and compassion for others.

Thank you so much, Nancy.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am Leanne Jamison, wife, mom, daughter, sister, entrepreneur, psychotherapist, speaker, lover of nature and spreading compassion. The list of the roles we all play can go on and on since we are so multidimensional.

My story begins over a decade ago when I started dipping my toe into entrepreneurship and finding myself in leadership roles as a Licensed Psychotherapist. I found myself always curious about why companies ran things the way they did and how to make the services better (for employees and clients), and of course, I was always challenging the status quo. When I was given the opportunity to help build a treatment center from the ground up, I truly found my calling. I found my complete LOVE of creating personal healing programs. I also loved bringing professionals together to create a team to provide these services. What I didn’t love was having to jump through everyone else’s hoops to get programs approved and I always had a bigger calling and vision of what I specifically wanted to create on this planet and as my Legacy.

My true launch into my current professional life as the Founder and CEO of the Institute for Female Trailblazers was shortly after the sudden death of my father in 2019. While reflecting on his life, I realized how many lives he left unlived. What I mean is that he was such a dreamer. He had so many ideas and creations he wanted to paten and never followed through. He had a big personality with visions to match. None of them ever came to full fruition. This realization created an ache in my heart and a fire in my soul.

I was so similar to my dad. I had so many ideas that came “close” to fruition, but I always backed out due to fear and wanting to stay “safe” in my soaring career as an Executive Director. As I kept moving in and out of entrepreneurship while maintaining my cushy corporate job, I recognized how unhappy I had become. I felt like pieces of me were dying inside. I felt so much anger and sadness that it was impacting my mental health and my relationship with my husband. When I had the epiphany of my “next” business venture, I was ecstatic, AND I knew I had to do something drastically different if I really wanted to succeed. First, I allowed myself to dream again because I had totally lost that part of my soul. Then, I hired a Holistic Business Coach who helped me break down my big vision into smaller, profitable steps. I showed up fiercely and with conviction for each challenge she presented. I allowed myself to go all in with my business and personal growth.

This is where I created the Institute for Female Trailblazers and my Legacy Foundation Program. My mission is to help other women release limiting beliefs, align with their authentic selves, and create their next-level life purpose so they can leave their Legacy. Now, I hold virtual and in-person events, retreats, workshops, speaking engagements, and immersive weekends. Through my online Legacy Foundation Coaching Program, I expanded into Legacy Builders, where I also coach women to begin and expand their holistic businesses. Some of my upcoming events include the Bold Moves Bootcamp in August, which is a one-day immersive program focused on helping female leaders and visionaries get out of their way and make bold moves in their careers and businesses. I also have an upcoming virtual 5-day Workshop in September: 5 Days to Your Next Level Life Purpose.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The first area of knowledge and skills that had the greatest impact on my journey was deep inner child healing, which led to an increase in self-awareness and a reconnection to my authentic self. This propelled me into self-love and allowed me to dream again and the courage to then follow my dreams.
The second included experiencing and expanding my knowledge of energy work. I had my very first experience with holotropic breathwork when I started my business, and at that very moment, the floodgates opened, and I was able to create a deep sense of knowing and aligning with my life purpose and mission on this planet. All self-doubt fell away, and I had never been so sure of anything in my entire life. This is also when I knew I was divinely supported, and my spiritual faith grew tenfold.
Finally, the most impactful quality is my commitment to myself and my mission. Every single day, I recommit to myself and my mission. I wake up every single day and mentally remind myself, “I love you so much. We are going to wake up and seize the day, lead from inspiration, and make your dreams come true.” This was the first time in business that I was 100% dedicated to living my mission full out and not having a backup plan.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

I am the queen of self-awareness books! I literally have to recommend them during every single one of my speaking engagements, events, trainings, and workshops. Can I choose 2? I am going to choose 2. One is more “logical and practical,” and the other is more “energy and manifestation.”

The first book that shaped my commitment and determination to create my business was Shoe Dog by Phil Knight. The nuggets of wisdom I pulled from that book and continue to lean into include the importance of following your passion, perseverance and resilience, and embracing uncertainty.

The second book is Happy Pocket Full of Money by David Cameron Gikandi. Some of the most valuable nuggets of wisdom from this book that I continue to reference and practice include wealth consciousness, the power of your thoughts, what self-worth and deservingness, and a super helpful introduction to quantum physics and reality.
