LeBarron, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from my faith and my personal history of seeing things work out for the best. Even during tough times when I feel impatient, I know from experience that challenges eventually lead to positive outcomes—even if I can’t see it at first. This track record of good results, despite delays or hardships, continually reinforces my belief that everything will ultimately turn out well.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m an entrepreneur and financial literacy advocate, and I founded Durant Enterprises to help people better understand and leverage their credit. My flagship offering, the Confident Credit Compass app, is a video-based learning program that breaks down the basics of credit and empowers consumers with essential knowledge. The app has updates and additional classes added all the time. I also wrote Don’t Fix Your Credit, and I actively visit schools and other programs to inspire young adults with forward-thinking strategies on how to use credit wisely. Additionally, as an affiliate for Dispute Beast, I provide effective credit dispute solutions for those in need. On top of my financial education work, I’m a real estate investor and recently completed a successful fix-and-flip project in Jacksonville, Duval County. I have a podcast called “Credit Chats” where we talk about how all things relate back to credit. Finally I have been on a few TV shows and plan to appear on more to spread the word about Credit.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been strong personal skills, solid technical abilities, and a relentless drive for improvement. My personal skills—understanding how to connect with people, knowing what they care about, and being genuinely helpful—have been vital in building lasting relationships. Equally, developing technical skills by listening carefully and mastering procedures has allowed me to execute tasks efficiently. Finally, learning to accept feedback without taking it personally and using it to refine my processes has been crucial for growth. For anyone starting out, I recommend focusing on effective communication, dedicating time to build practical technical expertise, and embracing constructive criticism as a tool for continual improvement.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
My number one challenge right now is visibility. I’m not naturally inclined to posting on social media, as I find it hard to create content that consistently resonates—especially when I’d rather interact with people in real life. With limited funds to hire a professional, I’m taking the initiative to learn social media marketing on my own. I follow a few trusted influencers and am investing in courses to gain deeper insights, gradually building my comfort and skill in this area.
