Meet Lee Reid

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lee Reid a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lee, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Growing up in South Florida, I definitely had come across an array of colorful characters by the time I was in elementary school, forcing me to kind of build my confidence like armor. Although my family was an advocate for “if someone hits you, hit them back”, I was not even close to that kind of child. In one of my earliest schooling memories, a few boys had snagged my smartphone from my desk without me seeing it and then lied to my face about taking it. Nothing like this had ever happened to me before, and I was more scared of what my mother would say than anything. I had recently made a friend, who came to me saying how she saw these boys actively throwing away my broken phone and laughing and she now was in trouble with the administration for beating them up! I will never forget the feeling of someone actively sticking up for me, despite the damage being done. My friendship with this person was detrimental to my life, unlocking my pursuit of art, music, skateboarding, and spirituality! The knowledge and sort of new ways of going about life allowed me to reflect mentally on my place in the world and even after this world. Although I give heavy credit to this old friend for literally shaping me, I would say the mental evolution of confidence and ambition rapidly skyrocketed after our friendship. I completely dove into yoga, journaling, going to the beach as often as I could. That was when I really started to explore my fashion sense and my hair. I started making music for the first time and posting it online, getting into setting up community art events. That initial feeling of having someone stand up for me is what fuels me to stand up for what is right every single day!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My focus is expanding my mastery of art mediums (and mediums some might not consider art at first inspection) and relaying that through a psychological lens. The fusion of art and health, my artistic career, and bringing unheard voices to the forefront are my main priorities. Growing up I was countlessly told to deter from pursuing art from family members, however, already in my early twenties, it has changed my life tremendously! I have infinite gratitude for the opportunities and people that the universe allows me to cross paths with, aligning with this same passion to get all of our communities together! I recently had the idea to finally create a YouTube channel to document these adventures, events, and knowledgeable people I have the honor of meeting. https://www.youtube.com/@highlordlee My artist collective, Fast At Your Door ( https://www.instagram.com/fayd.jpeg/ ), is in the middle of creating a Cyanotype Printing Workshop in the very near future as well as some HUGE news coming out in the next year regarding the last hit gallery show, Black is Punk, that happened at the University of Northern Colorado! Fast At Your Door is always pushing to engage the community through classes, workshops, and art salons (a hall or place used for the exhibition of works of art). I INSIST that you check out our Instagram for when official advertising, as well as dates and times, are posted to the public!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely I am ALWAYS looking for people to collaborate with! I am looking for creatives, music-makers, digital fabricators, hair stylists and hair artists, jewelers, accountants, dancers and choreographers, fashion designers, food connoisseurs, event planners, EVERYONE! My dream is to be in touch with the up-and-coming names and faces in the industry and actively have us all sharing project ideas, dreaming big TOGETHER, and making these projects come to fruition, sort of like a Worldwide Artist Collective. If someone out in Australia wants to do some exhibitions with live music and what have you, people from all over can offer their resources of digital design, music production, or even venue ideas and work labor to make this project a real success. I think also in this way, it will allow people who have little to no experience in the industry to get their name onto projects and make connections with other creators. Personally, I am ALWAYS looking for a new project and new connections, so I deeply look forward to when this is a well-rounded reality. So ultimately, I don’t care where you are from or currently located, I would still adore it if we created together! You can easily connect with me through my Instagram direct messages (instagram.com/itsleereid) or my email (itsleereid@outlook.com) !
