Meet Leilani Wells

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Leilani Wells. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Leilani below.

Leilani, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
When I think deeply about how I became resilient I can confidently say it was a combination of things. Like that saying, “the perfect storm.” I was born to parents that were both actors. They lived outside the box, which was great, however, there was also dysfunction. The environment that I grew up in with my mother and stepfather and on occasion visits with my father was an inconsistent one. One day great and another intolerable. The one thing that was consistent is that my parents were all diverse in the people they were friends with and the things they did. It meant that through any chaotic time I was always aware of people who lived and chose different. People that chose more ease and efficient and fun ways of living. As soon as I hit the age of 12 I realized working was my way to chose just like them. I became resourceful, resilient, and independant. Working as a babysitter and little jobs for neighbors lent to slight independance and reprieve, however, it was at the age of 15 I essentially left after dropping out of high school to take a travel job. As much as my parents may not have done all the right things, they did much good with what they knew at the time and I also credit my resilience to them being resilient. It was an example set and is in my DNA.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My business was birthed from possibility. I somehow have always known to live in that space and center in what is truly meant for me. I have always felt a pull to be purpose-focused and honored that. Because of that dedication I have a deep knowing when I am in the presence of a “unicorn.” Someone who is in their purpose fully or on the brink of it and needs more clarity, marketing guidance in the newly-discovered, and someone with unwavering belief in them along the way. That is my calling. The way it looks is me providing one-on-one marketing strategy and/or consulting, done-with-you content creation, my GET SEEN Membership program, and my newest love which is content experiences. This past year I have begun flying to highly-driven and camera-confident entrepreneurs to get content of them in their home town. I stay with them a few days and capture reels, photographs, and more. We are able to aim for 3 months of content to batch, as well as accomplish as much as an entire year of reels and content. This is customized to the individual and feeds my creative juices. It has been both a whirlwind and a joy seeing my vision come to life. Witnessing and cheering for so many success stories knowing that you impacted them in either a small or big way from staying the course is humbling.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Sales, Energy, The ability to read the room. Matter of fact everything really boils down to a connection to sales. The best listeners are the best at sales. As long as they are making offers after doing all that listening, of course. Reading the room is an aspect of listening. So is reading energy. Many people consider the act of listening to be associated to our ears or hearing only. Since I spent many of my younger teenage years having to be street smart and book smart I learned to listen with my eyes. What do I see people doing with their body while speaking to me? Or not speaking to me? I learned to listen to the energy. Is it thick? Do I feel something that doesn’t feel good and it’s now time to exit stage left? Am I asking questions? Am I asking the right questions? …And so on. There is a lot of information out there right at our disposal. I always understood that it is common for people to make assumptions based off of their current history of circumstances more so than facts and information. This has been an advantage for me. Never assuming. Catching myself when my brain is making up a story that is just that. Literally made up. Listening deeply. We all speak to the importance of communication. The reason I would advise anyone early in their journey to become an expert at deeply listening is because that is the foundation to build strong communication. That is the key to creating win/wins in all your future business collaborations and partnerships. That is a major key to success overall.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The Power of Intention Book by Wayne W. Dyer

This book changed my life. There are many life-changing books and experiences. This one changed mine. I don’t want to share too much. My hope is everyone at some point gets their own copy of this great book in their hands. I will say that I was able to truly begin to hone in on what it means to be a visionary. What the energy of it feels like and how to move and implement intentionally to make your dreams and others dreams come to life.
