Meet Lena Geronimo

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lena Geronimo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Lena, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I feel I get my resilience from being raised in the foster system. Being raised by a Military foster home, at a young age I had to depend on myself for comfort and protection.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I have more of a artistic career with emphasis on body movement, healing and strengthening. I love being a free flowing energy and I believe movement healing is the way. Lifting weights, dance fitness, ecstatic Dance & meditation have been pinnacle healing modalities for me. I find it liberating. I love being able to share with others who are curious and willing to take the next step in their healing journey whether physically or emotionally. InSkin is my Brand/Mission “To get Veterans and mommies out of their minds and back into their body.” To also know that movement heals.
I currently DJ for The Party Jockeys here in Las Vegas and I also teach 2 fitness classes at EoS. These opportunities are just a step to the bigger vision!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When I look back, three qualities that helped on my journey are courage, integrity and self-control. Three skills that helped me are communication, empathy and patience. Three areas of knowledge that helped me are movement art, spirituality & fitness.

I would say go in it with a mindset of “it will take time”. Healing is big. And it does take time. It takes trying different modalities out to see what suits your soul first. Patience has played a key factor so be patient! Also the willingness to want to be better, see better, feel better and connect better with self.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
They raised me to be very detached & resilient. To have my own and not to depend on others to get me through. It might sound like a bad thing but its really good when it comes to co-dependency. I did not want to grow up having to depend on any man to provide for me and do for me. Maybe that is why I remain single! Lol. Seriously, the detachment comes when things aren’t working. It is easier to let go once you realize something, whatever it is, is not right for you.
