We were lucky to catch up with Leni Rico Maria Magdalena recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Leni Rico Maria Magdalena, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I looked for it. I was ready and took my time to realize who I am. I asked to my family, friends and looking back in all what I used to do since I was a little girl, it’s when I found my true purpose. I’m a creator, we all are but I was born to create, in my case, through films and all around it.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m an actress. I was born that way. I love and enjoy so much being in front of an audience, wether is on camera or in a theater. For me it’s not to get attention, but to enjoy life, that’s how I get to be the happiest. I feel passion for creating and my imagination take me places that I don’t even plan, they come naturally.
I found out how I can write in my mind and tell stories. I love to turn them into a screenplay and play the action.
Since always I like to put people together to enjoy, and that’s why I call myself a producer, because we all need each other to create. I feel that I inspire people through real stories and I love to bring happiness and emotions to people and maybe helping on some way.
I’m currently working in one of my projects and you all will see soon, and I’m really excited about it.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say you have to have passion for what you do. You need to live what you do and show it on your actions. If you don’t love it, just don’t do it. Once you know what you want and love, you need to be consistent and determine to success no matter the circumstances are. Patient but taking always action.
Maybe coming from Basketball, I learned a lot of consistence and execution.
My advice is to focus on yourself. Do what your guts say and follow your intuition. Once you fill your cup, you can fill others cups. But first of all, yours. It doesn’t matter what others expect from you, they will never understand anyway.. and don’t be afraid of loosing people on your journey, they right people will come.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I would love to work with many talented directors. One of them is Woody Allen. I just love his stories so much. He is a genius for me on the way he writes his characters.
I would love to work at “Money Heights’, I think they created an extraordinary tv series.
Of course, I would love to work with Pedro Almodovar as well. He is one the of best as well.
My list can go on and on.. 🙂
