Meet Lennette Carrero

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lennette Carrero a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lennette , so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?

Going to the gym has genuinely been one of the best things I’ve done for myself. What started as a way to stay in shape has become a form of therapy. It’s the one part of my routine where I can tune everything out, process stress, and feel fully present.
On overwhelming days, it helps me reset both mentally and emotionally. This commitment has strengthened my discipline, built my patience, and improved my emotional balance. It’s made me more centered and capable—not just in fitness, but in everyday life. Showing up for myself in that space has helped me show up better everywhere else.
As a business owner, there’s always a lot to manage. Having that regular gym time keeps me from burning out. It helps me stay focused, handle pressure more effectively, and bring my best self to my work. Prioritizing my well-being this way has made me more productive, more resilient, and ultimately, a better version of myself.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

The idea to start my soft play rental company came when my daughter turned two. While planning her party, I came across businesses in California offering soft play setups for toddlers—colorful ball pits, mini bounce houses, and safe climbers designed just for little ones. I loved the concept and realized there was nothing quite like it in New Jersey. That moment sparked something in me, and I decided to take a leap of faith. Six years later, what began as a simple idea has grown into a business I’m truly proud of.

I now provide soft play rentals for birthdays and special events, working closely with parents and event planners to bring their visions to life. What makes this so special to me is being part of those joyful, once in a lifetime moments. Seeing kids light up with excitement and knowing I helped create those memories for their families is incredibly rewarding. It’s more than just setting up play spaces; it’s about bringing joy, fun, and a little bit of magic to every celebration.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

3 Things That Shaped Me:
1. Discipline.
I didn’t always feel like showing up — but I did anyway. The gym taught me that. Four days a week, no matter my mood. That routine saved me. Consistency became my quiet superpower.
2. Emotional Resilience.
I’ve been broken and rebuilt more times than I can count. I learned to sit in pain, feel it fully, and still move forward. That’s real strength — not pretending, but pushing through anyway.
3. Financial Awareness.
Money gave me options. The freedom to heal, to rest, to walk away from things that weren’t serving me. It didn’t solve everything — but it changed the game.

My advice?
Show up for yourself. Heal for real. Learn about money.
It’s not just about surviving — it’s about building a life you can breathe in.

My ideal client?
I love growing with moms and event planners. There’s something so special about building that connection — when a mom books us for her child’s first birthday, and then again for their second, and third. Or when an event planner trusts us enough to bring us back for multiple events.

Repeat clients are everything to me. It means we’re doing something right. It means we’re part of their story — their celebrations, their memories. And I don’t take that for granted. I’m all about relationships, consistency, and creating experiences that grow with your family or brand.

If you’re a planner looking for a vendor you can count on, or a parent who wants someone to grow with your family — I’m your person.
