Meet Lenny Mika Bonk

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lenny Mika Bonk. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Lenny Mika, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
While the majority of people around me were very similar to each other, I was always “the different one.” In the beginning it hurt a lot and it took me a long time to accept who I truly am, and also to be able to say I am good the way I am regardless of possible similarities or differences between me and others. Besides the fact that every human is unique, I learned to accept my true self in its whole, and that changed my entire life. It was a hard journey but writing helped me a lot to get to the point where I am today, and for me to grow.

By now, it doesn’t make a difference to me if I am the only person “who is like me” in the room or not, I’m always standing up for myself, and owning my true identity regardless of the circumstances.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a writer by heart. Whenever I can, I use the gift that I was blessed with to create something through the craft of writing. My preference/specialty is Poetry, but in general I am very versatile when it’s about the kind of writing.

I would say I am known for being the man who never gave up despite all that he had to go through and eventually fought his way back to life because he discovered his love, passion, and talent for words.

Even though there are a lot of writers who share their personal stories through their writings, I would say that’s what sets me apart from others. Not only because my life story is unique (as everyone’s is) but especially because my voice of writing is special. Before I started writing, I had never read a writing (of any kind) similar to mine, and even today, more than 11 years later, I haven’t found any writer whose writing similar to me. I’m writing because it’s my passion and because I want to use my voice to potentially be able to help others in a similar way that my favorite writers have helped me. By now, I have received multiple messages from people telling me that I saved them or that they relate so much to my writings that they finally don’t feel alone anymore. Being the person I would have needed when I was younger for others is a blessing.

So far I have published four books and the release of my fifth one is planned. There’s always more to come, so you can be excited to see!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Resilience, hope, and passion. That’s what I’ve been holding on to throughout my entire life, and especially when it’s about my creative journey.

Never giving up tends to sound like a cliché, but in the end it’s what we have to do to make our dreams come true.

For me personally, the best way to develop/improve on these was (and still is) basically learning by doing. We all make mistakes – because in the end we’re all humans – but there is always something positive to take from any negative experience. Realizing that and holding on to the hope in my heart is what made me reach the point I’m at today.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always interested in collaborations and cooperations with other creatives!

At the moment I’m mainly looking for people who believe that art can change the world and who want to help me and my partner to establish our new business idea – regardless of their location, age, gender, sexuality, religion, etc.

We are all people, we are all humans – how about we change the world together through our art?

The easiest way to connect with me is via social media or email – all my contact information is listed down below this article.
