Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lenox Stafford. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lenox, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
It’s simple for me. I enjoy listening to people share their stories and life experiences with me, studying other forms of art and applying it back to my craft as a writer and of course travel.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am an innovative storyteller. Please do not call me a children’s author! Under my I See Posts, series, I have published two books for kids between the ages of 8-12 and also created a children’s cartoon, but don’t get comfortable. I have stories to fit all genres and my next book, Let the Beat Drop, is a YA novel dedicated to the teens.
My brand is all about telling universal stories, honoring cultures and inspiring people to take risks. After moving to NYC with no job, building a career there and then relocating to London, UK with no job or family (during the pandemic), I realized that I love taking risks. My self-esteem and self-confidence grows the more I trust myself by doing the things that I thought would scare me. For a long time, I couldn’t determine my voice as a writer, but after incorporating some of my own life experiences into storylines, I learned that this is what makes me stand out. Whenever someone steps into Lenox Stafford’s world of storytelling, they’re going to become their own inspiration and of course take risks in their own lives.
When I’m not writing, I also offer my professional editing services, The Finer Words in Life, to independent authors, small businesses and corporations.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Optimism, financial acumen and willingness. I don’t like giving advice to people over the age of 18, but I can share what I do know from my experience. Optimism will keep you going and growing. Be mindful of what you’re watching and saying. You’ll be surprised by how what you’re consuming can have an impact on you, whether negative or positive.
Money is an important tool to have in order to create the life you want and to support your dreams. Get curious about money and remove old money habits that do not serve you. So, for me, I have Money Mondays and Finance Fridays where I go over my own personal finances and think of new ways to make money, while also tuning into various podcasts surrounding financial literacy. Make it a fun experience for you.
When you have an attitude of willingness, you’ll be opened to trying new things or at least doing something different. Go into each new experience like the first day as a freshman in high school.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
“When you truly want something, the whole Universe will conspire in helping you achieve it.”
