Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Leo Ferrari. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Leo, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Easy. I’m Argentinian. The necessity to adapt to changing circumstances has fostered a culture of innovation, creative thinking and deliver high-quality work even under pressure.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
After 15+ years in advertising agencies, I am still in love with this profession. An ad nerd born and raised in Buenos Aires, now a bilingual copywriter working in the US.
In my career, I’ve got some wild stories to share. Here are a few:
Once, we got the President to tweet promoting our digital hack of Spotify to save endangered forests.
I remember this ONE time when we got a “friendly” letter from argentina’s IRS asking to take down a campaign because it made them look bad. And the client said, “Keep going”.
Also, I got a client to kiss an alien at a shoot in Mexico, haha. (IF YOU NEED MORE DETAILS TEXT ME)
I founded a boutique agency focused on marketing innovation for stressed clientes called “La Palapa”, (which means “The Beach Hut”). A creative space to stimulate disruptive solutions to marketing, sales and communication problems for big and small companies.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, the three most impactful qualities were optimism, work ethic, and commitment. Optimism kept me motivated and resilient, allowing me to see opportunities in challenges and maintain a positive outlook. A strong work ethic ensured productivity and consistency, fostering reliability and high standards. Commitment drove me to stay focused on long-term goals, continually learn, and uphold my values. My advice is simple. Surround yourself with people with the same goal, and work hard to make ir happen.
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
A particular challenge we are currently facing is the need to be original and disruptive to keep our brand and company culturally relevant. In a rapidly changing market, it’s essential to stand out by consistently bringing fresh, innovative ideas that resonate with our audience. This means not only understanding current trends but also anticipating future ones, and being bold enough to take creative risks. Our goal is to matter to our audience by bringing value to their lives and conversations, ensuring that our brand remains a vital and engaging part of their daily experience.
