Meet Leo Guignard

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Leo Guignard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Leo , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

When I work on my art my creative mindset often feels like an interpretive collage of the creativity around me. I easily get inspired and sometimes I just let the music paint a story. For me in the digital arts and design space experimentation is key. When I run out of ideas I often like to visit a contemporary museum around me or consume art to find inspiration. Learning new skills and techniques is also beneficial because it motivates me to try them on new content I am working on.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As a concert visual artist leveraging the power of Resolume Arena, Blender, TouchDesigner and more I create captivating, real-time and standalone visuals that elevate live performances or music in general. While working on concert visuals my appreciation for music videos also led me to explore a wider range of artforms. Though Resolume is mostly used for live performances, I found its tools very useful for creating video art and audio reactive content. Paired with a video editing software my possibilities are endless. Most of my work combines layers of video that either I created or existing clips from around the internet, creating a sort of visual collage of videos being played simultaneously. I work with blending layers and effects as well as video warping and positioning to create my work.

As of now I have only done a handful of live shows and I have mainly been focusing on perfecting my skills with some software and working on my brand identity. I am looking forward to announcing my upcoming live shows in Atlanta.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

In my opinion having motivation and genuine love for what you do is key to succeeding. Throughout my experiences I also find that taking every collaborative opportunity and working on building connections with the community around you is very important. Since my move to Atlanta is still recent I am still working on these aspect of the business.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Currently I am looking for any live musicians or any preforming artists who are interested in collaborating. I am looking for people who are interested in working with me to create an immersive show. My dream is to play or create art with big artists and DJs who love music as much as I do.
