We were lucky to catch up with Leo Rain recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Leo with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Work ethic is one of my favorite aspects of the man I am becoming, and it all starts from my foundation. I first developed my work ethic from my family. Starting with my grandparents trickling down to my parents, I come from a very hard-working family. I can remember in numerous occasions where my parents displayed the mentality of getting work done and taught us the thrill of overcoming challenges. Secondly, one of the big influences in my work ethic has been studying the life of Nipsey Hussle. Nip always talked about building a “marathon mentality.” The Marathon Mentality is a mindset that perseveres through hardships for the sake of accomplishing a bigger than life mission. Through the combination of these two sources, my work ethic has evolved and grown over the years to what it has become now.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
When asked who Leo Rain is, I always sit back and think of the mission and where I am at in the journey. Leo Rain is a mentality and mission statement of why I pursue my artistic and entrepreneur career. So as a believer, I believe Jesus is calling special individuals to win and lead spaces where Christ-like leaders normally aren’t. The music industry is often called the Devil’s playground, but I think God is calling special individuals, who really walk with Him, to lead and have victory in the space. I think as believers sometimes, we forget to live life in the Lion mentality that Christ has afforded us. Sometimes, God gifts us and places our gifts in environments that lack. In the lack, we are to be the supplement for the good things that are missing. This is the mission and vision of Leo Rain.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
There are 3 qualities that have been the most impactful on my journey. Faithfulness, patience, and persistence. I think if anyone wants to do something big and feels called to a certain purpose in their life, they need to hone in on growing in these areas. These areas will carry an individual on their life journey and help supplement the growth to thrive.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Aside from the Bible, I think the most impactful book in my life has been the book called the Atomic Habits. In the atomic habits, it talks about importance of consistency and how your everyday consistency will compound into great changes. I think this nugget has changed my life and also altered the way I approach my journey. I can sum it up with a Nipsey Hussle quote, “Instead of trying to build a brick wall, lay a brick every day. Eventually, you’ll look up and you’ll have a brick wall.”
