Meet Leonardo Garibay

We were lucky to catch up with Leonardo Garibay recently and have shared our conversation below.

Leonardo , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

That’s a question I love answering. The key to building confidence lies in finding one’s own authentic expression and building upon it. I always tell my clients that authenticity feels foreign because no one else has done it and it is up to them to make their journey, their story iconic. The world needs every kind of unique and intricate character to share diverse stories across the world. My confidence comes from recognizing that I am “me” and that is a gift in of itself.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My parents, who were in search of a better life from the rags of Jalisco and Yucatan, Mexico, I ended up being first gen in the U.S. I’m making moves that the generations before me could have only ever dreamed of. From dancing ten different genres of dance across many stages in the state of Utah, to traveling to Dallas and L.A. for modeling, acting, and dancing competitions – I aspire to show the world the vast ways the human body can be used for artistic expression. After beginning dance at 14, I expanded and started my spiritual coaching business at 16. From there I signed as a model and talent with my first agency at 18. Then I left and started work with a local agency in Utah at 20. It was only ever the beginning and yet it felt like I was running out of time. I am the owner and founder of Venus X Pluto – “Powerful Beauty, Sensual Rebirth”. My mission is to instill great Love and Kindness in my clients and business partners. I educate clients on the art of transcending their experiences to live beyond their given limitations. I love seeing my clients alter the course of their direction in life to something that is in alignment with the vision they have for themselves. I work closely with my people to unearth the subconscious programming that inhibits their success from manifesting. The energy I put into my craft does more for my clients then the actual workshops or courses I guide them through. Intention matters. My business is currently undergoing some construction and I am super excited to be announcing the rebranding within the coming months. Aside from my daily life as a business owner, model, and dancer I am a support specialist for teens experiencing homelessness and poverty. My intense passion is used to supply these kids with access to unlimited resources so that they too can become successful. I decided that I was going to put myself in a position to bring hope and faith to them. On a professional and personal level, I only wish the best for every single person I interact with. One final thought, these past couple years I have worked with senior citizens in many nursing homes. I appreciate life at every stage. From the days we are on our phones, rebelling against our parents to the days we are in our final resting place, needing an extra set of hands to get by. There is Fulfillment, Honor, Love, Peace, and Joy at every phase of life.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I always say “Belief outdoes talent. Belief gets you into places and talent keeps you there.” There has never been a phrase that has rung more true for me. If I didn’t believe that I was going to have a successful business then there was no way I would be here today sharing my wisdom about how I got to where I am. Rule No. 1 – You must be able to adapt. As models, clients are always on the lookout for talent that can be sculpted into the character they are envisioning. Rule No. 2 – Be decisive and act on it. In this industry, your presence won’t even be acknowledged if you carry an ounce of hesitation in your step. This rule applies to all career fields. You can either be great or be forgotten. Rule No. 3 – Have fun with everything you do. Passion is the best fuel for your fire so utilize it in a way that benefits you and your desired outcomes.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

My mother and father left their identities, their lives, the culture they grew up in – just so that me and my siblings could live a life they **fully knew** they would never get to live. That risk, on its own, was worth investing in. They didn’t know how or even as to why they should come to the U.S., but what they did know was that the fruits of their labor would be savored by the generations after them. I wouldn’t have danced on stages, obtained leadership positions, won countless awards, given speeches, emceed events, completed Model and Actor’s school, become a model, traveled for my career, run a business, or even have the opportunity to wake up every morning with a smile and say ‘Thank you, Mom and Dad.” Their ROI (Return Of Investment) is my success story that I get to share with you today.

Warm regards,
With love and kindness,
Leonardo G.
