We were lucky to catch up with L’erin Gaines recently and have shared our conversation below.

L’erin, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I’ve learned to be effective and successful through understanding that there is purpose behind being the only one in the room that looks like me. Most of my life I’ve been spiritually driven in the opposite direction of what everyone else was doing. Something in me has always been uncomfortable enough to strive for change towards my personal goals in life. Familiarity has never been the benchmark of comfort for me. The true authentic version of myself has always lived separate. The soulful eccentric version of myself has always lived deep within. I’ve found more success in being myself verses conforming to the everyday regular routine predetermined life journey. In my world unconventional thinking is a true way of life for me. I am most effective when I accept everything about me; that makes me the man that I am.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a Self-Published Author, Entrepreneur & Podcaster who strives to connect with like-minded individuals. I am most excited about the breakthrough that has taken place through my gift of sharing. The 411 Podcast is about taking real life situations and reflecting both musically and spiritually for change. I’m Thankful for the opportunity to craft something that continues to contribute to society in a positive manner. The overall growth and structure of my career is an accurate definition of patience and resilience. My new project: “Disc 3 Evolution” gives the listeners the same feel of the 411 Podcast, but in an all new radio version exclusive to Twitter. Live Podcast versions of “Disc 3 Evolution” along with Reading Between The Wines will be available on all social media platforms in the near future. In the meantime, listeners will get the same real life experiences mixed with inspirational messages and music knowledge.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Before I could shift for change, I had to take responsibility and seek Deliberation with my HIGHER POWER. I believe that everything starts within self mixed with a good spiritual foundation. Purpose, drive and direction continues to be revealed through well exercised structure and discipline. In my world faith and love compliment each other very well. Skills and knowledge can be earned through trial, error coupled with real life experiences. A good challenge is to remain consistent with an attitude of gratitude throughout the entire process.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth and improvement over the past 12 months is acceptance. Learning how to accept life and truly live up to the meaning of acceptance. My most recent act of acceptance was forgiving myself and others from past life experiences. My whole perspective changed after the realization of myself spinning out of control; while trying to reign over people, places and things. I accept everything for what it is, and I don’t question or make excuses for the truth that comes directly from a persons mouth. Truth becomes real clear when I exercise good listening skills and acceptance.
