We were lucky to catch up with Leslie Langie recently and have shared our conversation below.
Leslie, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
Growing up my mother would say things like “you know where you been but not where you’re going” & “Be careful how you treat people, you may be in the company of angels”. Although i don’t feel i’ve ever needed the promise of heaven or the threat of hell to motivate me to be a good person, I took these sayings to heart. It taught me to see the divinity in everyone, but also to see everyone as a reflection of myself. When I see those challenged by houselessness, it is never lost on me, that could easily be me.
I am able to empathize with the struggles of others, so I ALWAYS aim to treat people the way I would like to be treated.
It all seems so cliche, but it is honestly the way I try to live.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I assist people in aligning their mind, body & spirit to bring about an overall sense of wellness. I am an herbalist, and the chief creatrix at Whispering Eye Apothecary. I curate small batch herbal tinctures, salves, teas and steams, as well as body butter, oils and bath soaks. My products are made from recipes taught to me by my ancestors. I come from a long line of, herbalist, birth workers and nurtures, that believed in the bodies ability to heal itself with a little help from nature. Whispering Eye Apothecary’s offerings are not meant to replace Western medicine or doctors, moreso we are here to support daily wellnes, bringing ease, comfort where we can.
I am a Reiki practitioner, this meditative practice, helps to reduce anxiety and promotes relaxation and mental clarity, it’s almost like a massage for your chakras.
I’m also a Bone Reader, Bone reading is an ancient form of divination that uses animal bones, crystals, nuts, beads & curios, collectively known as bones to divine information. Readings often times give confirmation, direction and peace of mind.
It is my intention with everything that i to, to remind people of their power to heal themselves, and to assist them in living their best most magical life.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I am resourceful & creative, I learned early to use what was available to me which is super useful in herbalism, because going to the store isn’t always an option sometimes all you have is what’s in your kitchen cabinet & backyard. I am good under pressure. I don’t frazzle eazy so I’m great in a crisis, being able to stay calm and rational is a must.
The one thing I would say helped me to develop these skills is studying. I study my craft, always learning new things. You gotta know your stuff cause there’s no time to second guess yourself.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
David Goggins, You Can’t Hurt Me, has been one of the most impactful books I’ve ever read. It challenged me to push myself beyond my limit and step out of my comfort zone. Reading that book helped me understand that my only competition is me, and my only enemy is also me.
