We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lester Greene. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lester below.
Hi Lester, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
As a kid, I remember my mother being very generous to all of my childhood friends. She was responsible for hosting and feeding the whole neighborhood. The one thing I remember about my mom was her fruit punch. I don’t know how she made it, but it tasted so good. Everybody loved it! I miss her so much!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
A lot of people know me as an actor, but I also love being a host. In fact, The Lester Greene Talk Show (directed by Nadira Pankey) is about to be released. I just interviewed Karen & Tom Lambie and Nadira Pankey on my show and we discussed Human Trafficking. I just enjoy having heartfelt conversations with all kinds of people. I’m also getting ready to release my documentary Act Like You Love Yourself, starring Nadira Pankey, Andrew R. McCallister and myself. This documentary will serve as the follow-up to my book Act Like You Love Yourself, which is available on Amazon. Before I forget, I worked with Antoine Allen on a faith-based film called Driving Force starring Jacinth Headlam, Nakia Dillard, and myself. You can actually watch that film on Tubi right now! I’ll be filming a feature horror film with Ms. Michelle in Las Vegas next month, and I play a lead in that! It’s going to be a great summer!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I just think being very open to people, places and things is key. You have to be okay with things not always going according to your plan. Be flexible in your understanding of what the world throws at you. I just watched an interview on All The Smoke, and Michael Rubin was stressing the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people who can teach you new things.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m looking to collaborate with more directors and producers in and from Detroit. They’re doing some great things out there. Speaking of Detroit, I had the pleasure of working with Dennis Reed II and DR II Productions. We worked on a series called Street Legal that will be coming out very soon. Special thanks to Dennis Reed II & Homestead Entertainment. Some other people/companies that I’d like to collaborate with are: Rockey and Janaya Black of Black-Smith Enterprises, KC Carson, Joe Smith, Mula Films, DeJuan Ford, HWIC Filmworks (Cleveland), S. Carter Production/Films (California), Monica Floyd & True Vision Media Group (California) and several others.
