Meet Lester Swims

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lester Swims. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Lester , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I gained work Ethic from my parents! I grew up in a household with 7 brothers and sisters, so nothing came easy for us! My dad worked hard as he could from employment to creatively finding his way to provide and as the oldest I was able to sit in the front seat of what we went through! It built strength and ethics of work that I currently use today!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

So I am the sole owner of a couple of restaurants called So Soulful Eatery, located in Chicago and Evanston! I specialize in service! I believe in trying to create an atmosphere of home on the go! While we are currently only takeout, we focus on keeping you home meals from work to home! We are grounded in servitude, and loving on people! So we push that heart posture through our stores and our food! The exciting part of what we do is to see how food has a language and it speaks different to each and every one of us! It’s a sight to see!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities or skills I use everyday are customer service skills, leadership ability, and endurance! These all work hand and hand to formulate the best version of me, and I’m sure if you use this tools in your journey or focus on them whether separately or together, you’ll see yourself grow and mature into the version of you, your dreams will be attracted too!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

Honestly the most impactful person for me has been God! My faith has grounded me in such a way, that when storms arise I see them as lessons, instead of destroyers!! I ask questions to see what inside of this test can I stand on to see the future! So definitely God has covered me and protected me even in my bad decisions, he’s found a way to make my wrongs get right!
