We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Leticia Rodriguez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Leticia below.
Hi Leticia, so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
I think I was always one to take the risk out of my family for most of my life, I mean I am the middle child so I tested my parent patience quite a bit. Now matured from that, growing up I realized that fear can really either hold you back or allow you to take the biggest jump into either failure or success. I realized that taking a risk is a lesson and an experience one way or another. Whether it goes the way you hoped it would or it ends up going a totally different direction you didn’t expect, I strongly believe you gain from it regardless.
The same way I took the risk of opening up my business during the Covid-19 pandemic, or decided to expand and hire my first employee. Don’t get me wrong, it was overall pretty scary but how else am was I supposed to know if it was going to be the best thing I have ever done or not if I didn’t just take the jump?
People are afraid of failure and don’t get me wrong, so am I. But I get caught up in the fact of, I’ll never know what it could have been, and the not knowing for me is way scarier than just taking the risk and giving it a shot. I mean, so far, its the best thing I could have ever done, I love every bit of it!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The advice I have for those in the early stage of their journey is, Don’t be afraid. People are often afraid of failing which is completely understandable, but in reality the worst that can come to failing is a lesson, a chance to reroute, and try again! Just cause you might have not succeeded in the way you wanted to the first time doesn’t mean you’re not capable of succeeding ever again in your life!
3 qualities that were most impactful on my journey have to be Self motivation, Loving what I do, and Caring about others. I think too many of us get wrapped up in the “money” that comes in (Which is completely understandable) that finding passion in what you do gets lost. To me being passionate about what you do, and being truthful to yourself really matter at the beginning and current stages of your journey.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest area of Growth has to be my Mental Health.
When working for yourself and owning a business, it is easy to get ahead of yourself and have unreasonable expectations. You end up being too hard on yourself, You start questioning if you are even capable to do this or if this is meant for you. You wonder if this is a failure or a success, so you end up making your whole life about work and spend most of your time there. You get consumed into social media, and being at work ends up being an obsession, that was starting to affect life at home.
I had to come to the realization that even though I absolutely love what I do and I will always give my all to Silky Smooth, my clients, and my employees, that I cannot forget about giving my all to myself.
I had to remind myself that taking breaks is okay, going on trips won’t ruin my business, being able to take extra days off for family is a privilege. I am very grateful for what I do and the people I have around me that I take pride in taking care of myself so I can continue to give the best I can to Silky Smooth and all of our amazing clients.
