Meet Leuras

We recently connected with Leuras and have shared our conversation below.

Leuras, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

My creativity is fuelled by new experiences and relationships so I try to say yes to as much as possible. Travel and people really inspire me and gives me material to work with. I go to the studio at least once per week and collaborate with my band mates Joel and Dillon; they’re a big part of what keeps the creativity flowing.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Leuras recently announced the release of her debut EP South Van Ness, recorded at the legendary Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco, California (where groups like Jefferson Airplane, Chris Isaak, Green Day, Kanye West and Santana recorded). The 6 song EP runs for almost 20 minutes and is intended to be listened to from start to finish like some albums that influence her (e.g. Dark Side of the Moon). Commencing with a dreamy instrumental track, the EP almost follows a continuous crescendo with each song building after the next. Heartful lyrics and ephemeral melodies are a key feature of each song, with accompanying instruments that tie together the songs into the dream-rock and alternative blended sound.

“With over 20 songs awaiting recording, her music blends emotion, melody, and meaning. Join Leuras on an evocative journey through dreamy alternative rock, where each chord becomes a resonant echo of life’s intricate moments.”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey as a musician were tenacity, sacrifice, and creativity. Two of those things were decisions I made along the way.. one of those things was something innate that I nurtured, gave time to, and developed. My advice to those starting on their journey is to have dream and turn that dream into shorter goals that can be realised, but don’t give up as it takes time for a dream to become a reality.. and don’t listen to the naysayers, not everyone will like your art or believe in your dreams, just listen to yourself, they’re your dreams, and no one else’s, and really, only you can make them a reality!

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

In the past 12 months I’ve built an audience around the world from Australia, to South America, South East Asia, Europe and the USA. I could have never imagined 5 years ago this would be possible and it’s a wonderfully fulfilling knowing people from all parts of the globe are listening to the songs I have written and hopefully it improves their day in someway.
