Hi Levina , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I found my purpose when I was very young. I discovered it through my creativity, which was singing and songwriting. My songwriting really ignited a light in me, not only through being creative but I found a deeper way to connect to people. Overall I believe my purpose is to change lives for the better. I want to show people what kindness and compassion looks like genuinely. Without force or persuasion I aim to always be the best person I can be. I believe I was put here for a reason which was to show others that good people still exist. Not only do I strive to be great, but through my songwriting I have always shown my strength, my weaknesses, things that hurt me, and things I’ve overcome. I am simply human.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am singer/Songwriter Levina Lye.
Being Levina Lye has always been a part of me I loved deeply. My name broken down is “Livin a Lie” as I often feel like the face I show the world isn’t the accurate description of what I feel inside. Sometimes when I feel the lowest that’s when I present my biggest smile. It’s like a double edged sword sometimes. That’s where music comes into play. It’s my one space where I can tell my truth and not feel ashamed or scared. It’s truly revealing that I am human and feel every emotion deeply. I have two EPs “Pieces of Me” and “ More of Me” which show so many sides of me. My latest single “I’m an Alien” talks about how I currently feel. It’s very upbeat but also displays the fact that I often feel like I’m literally from outer space. Sometimes I feel so out of place but my music always brings me down to earth.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

On my journey I’ve learned so many things but only a few have stuck. The one quote that always stuck was “ Be yourself, no matter what they say”. I have always been unapologetically me in my music and as an artist, no one can ever say I was a gimmick or sold my soul along the way. I stayed true to myself.
Over time I perfected my craft, constantly writing, singing, performing.
My advice to an artist or anybody who has a dream is that practice does make perfect. Even if it’s not perfect as long as you did your very best that’s enough. Most importantly at least you tried! Most people trick themselves into believing that they can’t, never truly giving themselves a chance. It’s so important to go after what you want in life otherwise eventually you’ll live in regret. Finding purpose is so important in life and yet so many people ever find it.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed surprisingly I turn to helping others. It occupies my mind and gives me something to focus on other than myself. As I stated before my purpose is to help others, I’ve always used my pain to relate to others. Most importantly I never want people to feel the way I feel sometimes. Sometimes I feel like no one gets it, unsure of who really cares, and lonely. If I can avoid having others feel that way, it makes me feel so much better about my own pain.
