Meet Lex Sambrosky

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lex Sambrosky. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lex below.

Hi Lex , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism is rooted in something far deeper than just choosing to see the glass half full—it’s a conscious decision I make every day because I’m raising a little boy who’s watching my every move. I want my son to grow up knowing that life may not always be easy, but with the right mindset, faith, and determination, anything is possible. I’m doing everything I can to be the example I want him to follow. That means showing him what perseverance looks like, even when the odds seem stacked against you.

I wasn’t raised with a blueprint for generational healing or entrepreneurship—I’m learning in real-time how to break cycles and create new ones filled with purpose and positivity. That process has pushed me to invest in my personal growth, in therapy, in education, and in community. I want my son to know that strength doesn’t mean perfection. It means continuing to show up, to try again, and to speak life over your dreams even when no one else sees the vision.

One of the biggest outlets for my optimism is my photography business. Photography has given me more than just a creative outlet—it’s given me purpose, confidence, and a way to connect with people in meaningful ways. Every session I shoot is a reminder that beauty exists everywhere, even in the ordinary. I get to freeze time, capture joy, and tell stories that matter. And in doing that, I’m also writing my own story—one filled with resilience, faith, and the drive to build something that lasts.

Being a military spouse, a mom, and a small business owner isn’t always easy, but those titles give my journey its depth. They’re why I show up with heart. They’re why I believe that no matter what life throws at us, we can always choose hope, creativity, and growth.

So, when people ask where my optimism comes from, I smile and think of my son. He’s my why. And if he grows up believing in himself, in kindness, and in possibility, then I’ll know I did something right.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my story—it means a lot. I’m a documentary and lifestyle wedding photographer with a heart for storytelling and a passion for capturing real, honest moments. I work with couples who value connection over perfection, who want their wedding day documented with warmth, intention, and soul. My goal is always to preserve the feeling behind the image—the laughs, the tears, the quiet glances, and the loud dance floor joy.
My photography journey began as a creative outlet, but over the years, it’s evolved into something much deeper. It’s become a way for me to connect with people, empower others, and build a business rooted in meaning. As a military spouse, mom, and business owner, life is full and sometimes chaotic—but photography gives me the space to slow down and appreciate the beauty in all of it. I believe there’s magic in the everyday, and I try to bring that same perspective into the way I document weddings and create content.

In addition to wedding photography, I’ve also leaned into content creation—especially for small brands, creatives, and fellow entrepreneurs. Whether it’s a behind-the-scenes reel, styled shoot, or brand imagery, I love helping others visually tell their stories in a way that feels true to them.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding the heart and reach of my business. I’m currently working on collaborations with brands I genuinely love—especially in the wedding space, including future partnerships with wedding dress designers for styled shoots and content. I’m also opening up my travel books for elopements, extending how far I go to document intimate, adventurous love stories. And something I’m especially excited about: I’ll soon be offering content creation as an add-on to my wedding packages—perfect for couples who want that extra layer of storytelling, behind-the-scenes magic, and shareable moments from their big day.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that have had the biggest impact on my journey are resilience, curiosity, and intentionality.
Resilience has been essential—not just as a business owner, but as someone navigating entrepreneurship with no set path. Things don’t always go as planned, and there have been seasons where I’ve had to pivot, adapt, and trust myself through uncertainty. Learning how to keep going, even when it’s hard or unclear, has shaped who I am today and how I approach both business and life.

Curiosity has also played a huge role. I didn’t have all the answers when I started, and I still don’t—but I’m always learning. Whether it’s diving into online courses, experimenting with new techniques, or exploring trends in photography and content creation, staying curious has kept me inspired and growing. That drive to constantly improve and explore new ideas helps me serve my clients in fresh, creative ways.

Intentionality is the foundation of how I do business. I’ve learned that it’s not about doing all the things—it’s about doing the right things. Being intentional with the clients I serve, the projects I take on, and the way I show up allows me to create with purpose and clarity. It’s helped me build a brand that feels aligned and genuine.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is this: You don’t need to have it all figured out to start. Show up consistently, stay curious, and build with intention. Your path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s—as long as you keep learning, growing, and staying true to your vision, you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal clients are couples who value authenticity and connection above all else. They’re not necessarily focused on posed or perfectly polished photos—instead, they want their wedding day captured as it truly unfolds, with all the emotions, candid moments, and real interactions that make their story unique. These clients appreciate the beauty in the small, unscripted details—the laughter between friends, the quiet glance shared during the ceremony, the joyful chaos of celebration.
They’re people who want a photographer who feels more like a trusted friend than just a vendor. They’re open, genuine, and excited to be themselves in front of the camera. They understand that the best photos come from comfort and trust, and they’re willing to let go of perfection in favor of realness.

Because I also offer lifestyle and documentary-style work, my ideal clients tend to value storytelling and meaningful visuals that extend beyond just the wedding day. They often seek thoughtful, creative content that reflects their personalities and values—whether that’s in engagement sessions, elopements, or brand collaborations.

Ultimately, my ideal clients are those who want their memories captured in a way that feels timeless, true, and full of heart. Working with people like this inspires me to bring my best work, every single time.
