We were lucky to catch up with Lexi Goldi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lexi, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
Optimism isn’t always easy, especially in this industry. It’s something I’ve had to choose every single day. There have been moments when it would have been easier to give up, to let the doubts and the challenges win. But every time I feel that pull, I remind myself why I started.
I think back to the first time I ever stepped on set and when I wrote my first draft of my debut feature film Baby. I think about the cast and crew who showed up every day, on and off set, with so much passion and belief in what we’re creating. They trust me, and that’s not something I take lightly.
For me, optimism is a commitment, not just to my dreams but to the people who have chosen to be part of them. I know how rare optimism can be, especially in this line of work, but I’ve learned that it’s the key to pushing through when things get hard. It’s about finding the hope in the middle of chaos and holding onto it tightly, no matter what.
At the end of the day, I choose optimism because it’s how we keep going, how we create something meaningful, and how we make our dreams real.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At my core, I’m a storyteller. It’s not just what I do, it’s who I am. Stories have always been my safe space, my escape, and my way of making sense of the world. During some of the hardest moments in my life, stories saved me. They gave me hope when I couldn’t find it anywhere else, and they reminded me that even in the darkest times, there’s always a way through.
Now, I get to create those stories, not just for myself, but for others. Whether I’m writing, directing, or collaborating with an incredible cast and crew, my goal is to tell stories that matter. Stories that make people feel seen, understood, and less alone. That’s what makes this work so exciting for me. It’s the chance to build a connection with someone I’ve never met, to create something that might make them laugh, cry, or feel just a little bit more hopeful.
Right now, I’m incredibly excited about Baby the feature film and everything it represents. It’s a story close to my heart, and I’ve poured so much of myself into it. It’s not just about bringing a vision to life, it’s about working with a team of passionate, talented people who believe in the magic of storytelling as much as I do.
For me, storytelling is about connection. It’s about showing people that they’re not alone in whatever they’re feeling or going through. That’s what I hope my work does. And if it can bring someone a little bit of hope or comfort, then I know I’m doing what I’m meant to do.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three things have had the biggest impact on my journey: resilience, empathy, and curiosity. Resilience has been crucial because setbacks are inevitable in this industry, and it’s so important to stay grounded in why you started and keep pushing forward even when it feels impossible. Empathy has shaped everything I do, it’s what allows me to tell stories that feel real and resonate with people on a deeper level. Understanding others, listening to their experiences, and stepping into their shoes is where meaningful storytelling begins. Curiosity has kept me growing and evolving, always asking questions, exploring new ideas, and staying open to learning. My advice for anyone just starting out is to embrace failure as part of the process, never stop believing in yourself, and stay endlessly curious about the world and your craft. Those qualities will help you stay true to yourself while carving your own path.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely, I’m always looking for opportunities to collaborate with passionate and creative people. I want to work with writers, storytellers, directors, producers, cinematographers, anyone who shares a love for creating meaningful stories. Collaboration is such a powerful way to learn and grow, and I’m eager to connect with people who are driven by their craft and excited to bring unique visions to life. I’m also open to working with anyone who’s simply looking to find community in this often isolating industry. If that sounds like you, I’d love to connect!
