Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lexi Stromberg. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lexi , thank you so much for making time for us today. We can’t wait to dive into your story and the lessons you’ve learned along the way, but maybe we can start with something foundational to your success. How have you gone about developing your ability to communicate effectively?
I developed the ability to communicate effectively through the practice of deep listening. Through my experiences working as a Pilates Instructor and Physical Therapist Assistant, I’ve learned that effective communication is not just about what you say—it’s about how well you listen. By creating a safe, supportive space for others to express themselves freely, I’ve found that people are more open, honest, and engaged. This foundation of trust allows for true connection and clarity. The more I focus on being present and listening with empathy and without judgment, the more naturally effective communication flows.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I founded Internal Pilates because of my passion for helping others build a positive relationship to exercise, their body, and their mind. Through Internal, I hope to share how Pilates can grow internal strength that translates to confidence, empowerment, and self love. Pilates has been a powerful part of my personal journey—helping to heal my relationship with movement and myself. It has not only improved my strength and quality of movement but also my sense of connection, confidence, and inner peace. Pilates has given me so much, and I feel deeply inspired to share it with the Columbus community. My hope is that others will discover their own unique and meaningful connection to the practice, and experience all the benefits it has to offer.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are curiosity, consistency, and compassion.
Curiosity kept me open to learning.-about anatomy, movement, the Pilates practice, and myself. It helped me approach my journey as an opportunity to explore rather than perform. That allowed me to have fun with the process rather than put too much pressure on myself creating a more conducive learning environment
Advice: Stay curious. Ask questions, try new approaches, and don’t be afraid to revisit the basic foundations.
Consistency helped to build trust and patience in the process. Success and progress can be achieved in small and unexpected ways when you continually invest in yourself and your needs.
Advice: Establish consistency that works for your life. Showing up for yourself can make a meaningful difference over time.
Compassion and empathy—especially toward myself—was essential. Letting go of perfection and embracing where I was helped me build trust and confidence in myself
Advice: Be kind to yourself. Your journey is your own, and it’s okay for it to look different than someone else’s. Don’t compare yourself and fully embrace yourself for who you are!
There’s always something new to learn, and growth comes from being, patient, passionate and trusting in yourself.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
A big inspiration behind opening Internal Pilates was to become more deeply rooted in the Columbus community and offer services that truly support the well-being of its members. I love this city and feel so grateful to watch it grow and evolve.
Internal Pilates is all about prioritizing self-care, connection, and overall wellness. At the heart of that is the belief that a supportive, inclusive community is essential for personal and collective growth. That’s why I’m especially passionate about collaborating with other local businesses that share an inclusive, kind, and empowering message.
Together, we can create events and offerings that uplift, educate, and strengthen our community. If you’re interested in connecting or collaborating, I’d love to hear from you—please reach out at lexi.internal.fitness@gmail.com.
