We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Libby Williams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Libby below.
Libby, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
What sparked my journey of self-discovery? A pivotal moment emerged during a transformative period in my life, when I was navigating a disability that had led to isolation. My nephew, Jarvis Matthews, invited me to participate in a fashion show and his simple yet profound question, ‘Why not you?’ ignited a sense of empowerment, prompting me to rethink my limitations, with my children’s enthusiastic agreement.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am proud to say that my most rewarding role to date is being Gabbie, or grandmother, where I get to be active, share entertaining stories about my children, and inspire my family. Professionally, I have had the privilege of collaborating with Felicia GeecheeOne Rivers and Geechee One Films in approximately 22 films. Additionally, I have worked on the web series Daddy’s Little Girls with Cordaro Starlings and Victoria VA Glover. Later this month, I will be filming Cream of the Crop with Donald Rice and Donna Joseph. Recently, I was honored to be nominated for the IHA Awards in the Best Published Model category and I am a current nominee for the The BB Online Awards in the Most Talented and Most Determined categories. I am grateful that my work is recognized and respected by industry leaders in both acting and modeling. My primary focus is to advocate for inclusivity, representing the disabled, older individuals, diverse body types, mental health diagnosis survivors, and those affected by colorism. I am excited to be in a position to amplify these voices and create positive change.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Be open to learning from failures*: View mistakes as opportunities for growth and development.
– *Build a support network*: Surround yourself with people who can offer guidance, encouragement, and support.
– *Stay curious and adaptable*: Be willing to explore new areas and adjust your approach as needed.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents nurtured my emotional well-being with unwavering love and support, empowering me to reach my full potential, and inspiring a strong moral compass through positive role-modeling.
