We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lida Bunting a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lida, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
My self-discipline is deeply rooted in my upbringing. I was raised in an Eastern European household by immigrant parents who valued hard work and took nothing for granted. In our home, there were no shortcuts, and the only path to success was through diligent effort. The ethos instilled in me was clear: if you wanted something done, do it right, or don’t do it at all.
This philosophy has remained a guiding principle throughout my schooling and adult life. While my work ethic has evolved into a ‘work smarter, not harder’ approach, I continue to believe that discipline and focus are the key ingredients for achieving our goals.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
We are a boutique photo management company that delivers customized solutions to meet our client’s specific needs. The business was developed to tackle the chaos of our ever-growing digital photo collections and our goal is to ensure our client’s photos are well-organized, easy to find, and enjoyable to look at.
We offer organizing, digitizing, and conversion services. We will consolidate photos from different platforms, organizing by events or themes, and provide an end viewing experience that is user-friendly and preserved for the future.
Our core is in the stories that our photos tell. We celebrate special memories and capture those moments in beautifully designed luxury photo books. Life is about making these memories with our family and friends, whether it’s on a vacation, at a special occasion or everyday life, not wrestling with thousands of images. I handle the photo management, keywording, culling, photo book design and development, so that you can spend time making these awesome memories, leaving you with a peace of mind that your photos are always within reach.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been the most impactful in my journey is a hard work ethic, perseverance, and proficiency in project management, particularly in organization and strategic planning. The ability to efficiently manage tasks, set clear objectives, and allocate resources has played a crucial role in navigating through various challenges.
For those who are at the early stages of their journey, I suggest they embrace a mindset that values consistent effort and dedication. Understand that success often requires sustained hard work over time. Set clear goals, break them down into actionable steps, and approach each task with a commitment to excellence. Be willing to go the extra mile, continually seek improvement, and find joy in the process of putting in the effort. Also, view setbacks as opportunities for growth rather than roadblocks. Develop resilience by learning from failures, adapting to changes, and staying focused on long-term goals. Lastly, I strongly advise dedicating time to learn and practice project management principles. Take advantage of available resources, online courses, and mentorship opportunities to acquire practical insights into effective project planning and execution, break down tasks into manageable components and set realistic timelines.
Remember, success often lies not just in the effort you put into your work but in how efficiently you can manage and streamline that effort. Cultivating a strong work ethic and persevering through the tough times will not only contribute to your individual success but also enhance your overall effectiveness in any endeavor.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am actively seeking collaboration with individuals and small business owners who find themselves overwhelmed by managing their digital photo collections. My white-glove service is designed to transform a disorganized photo collection into a magnificent showcase of memories. Additionally, I offer personalized concierge coaching for those who share a passion for their photos but need guidance in managing them independently.
Moreover, I am eager to explore partnerships with luxury travel companies, including esteemed brands such as Abercrombie & Kent, Kensington Tours, Silversea Expeditions, Oceana Cruise Lines, and Viking Cruise Lines. I am open to discussions with decision-makers from these companies to explore potential synergies and how my services can enhance their offerings. If you have connections within these organizations or insights on how to facilitate such introductions, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to connect and discuss potential collaboration further.
