Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lilliana Winkworth. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lilliana, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Having confidence and self-esteem is a constant work in progress for me. Anxiety has been a constant companion of mine since the elementary school playground, but it’s also been my greatest source of inspiration. Once I accepted my anxiety as the lens through which I see the world, I was able to embrace it and have some fun with it which ultimately led to building confidence and self-esteem. Not only in who I am but also in my work and what I can bring to the table.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a writer and actor obsessed with all things anxiety. I’m a firm believer that sharing our stories is the best way to create community and help destigmatize issues around mental health. My show, Sad Funny, does just this by giving a platform for performers and artists to explore all things sad through the comedy lens. Sad Funny seeps through all my work. From screenplays to sketches to cartoons, it’s the POV that keeps on giving as I explore my struggles with my mental health in hopes that doing so will help someone learn to love themself a little bit more.
I’ve also turned to writing and performing as a form of therapy in itself. My most recent feature is a horror script inspired by my high school reunion where a murderous mascot takes revenge on those she deems too fake to live. Let me be clear, murder is bad. Fictional murder can be therapeutic.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Self-awareness, self-forgiveness, and taking your time. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Take classes that scare you. Find the people you admire in your community and be inspired by them.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’d love to collaborate with theater makers and filmmakers who want to help bring different, abstract stories to life. Find me on Instagram and send me a DM.
