Meet Lily Ingeldsen

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lily Ingeldsen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Lily, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?

My self-discipline started when I transitioned from in-school learning to virtual school. I did this at the time so I could take my modeling/ social media career to the next level. Being homeschooled during my last years in school was one of the best decisions I made because it made me realize how much wasted time is in an actual school day. Doing this gave me so much more free time and the flexibility to travel. As an online student, you have to be very self-disciplined to get all your work and tests done. This taught me self-discipline at a young age, and as I grew into the woman I am today, my self-discipline has grown even stronger.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a full-time real estate agent in Florida, and I also continue to pursue modeling while actively posting on social media. This dual career helps me grow my brand and provides excellent networking opportunities. The most exciting part of real estate for me is walking into a home with a first-time homebuyer and seeing the look on their face when they realize this is their future home. Another thrilling aspect of real estate is the diverse range of people I meet and the connections I make. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some incredible people and clients through my work in real estate. Modeling has also played a significant role in my journey, allowing me to network with various individuals and designers. These connections have often led to new opportunities in my real estate business.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I would say my first quality is self-discipline. Self-discipline is the power to master your thoughts, emotions, and behavior in the face of temptation to achieve a specific goal. My second quality is being a go-getter. This is important because no one else can hold you back but yourself. Having a go-getter mentality has been pivotal as I grow into a successful entrepreneur since there’s always someone else working harder than you. My final quality is the power of communication. I don’t want communication to be thought of as a cliché because it is fundamental to most aspects of business and relationships. Poor communication equals bad business. As a real estate agent, effective communication is vital for running a seamless business, and diligent follow-up is a crucial component of the real estate game. My advice to someone early in their career is to never be the smartest person in the room because you never know who in that room could significantly impact your life or career. Communication plays a major role in everyday life, regardless of your job or position. As a go-getter, I live by the principle that no one will work harder for your goals than you.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When overwhelmed, I resort to a strategy that’s proven effective: I take a moment to pause, breathe deeply, and reflect on the accomplishments that have brought me to where I am today. It’s a reminder of my resilience and capability amidst challenges. When feeling the weight of overwhelm, I find solace in physical activity. Whether it’s an intense gym session or a serene walk along the beach, the motion helps clear my mind and rejuvenate myself. These actions empower me to confront overwhelm head-on, emerging a stronger mindset and more focus on my goals.
