We recently connected with Lily Kate Goehring and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Lily Kate with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I’ve been very fortunate to have my mom by my side throughout my dance career. When I think of a strong work ethic, she’s the first person who comes to mind. She has taught me that with determination, I can achieve anything I put my mind to. I wouldn’t be the dancer I am today without her.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Lily Kate Goehring, and I am a professional dancer! I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, and have been dancing since I was two years old. In 2018, I joined Prodigy Dance Crew, where I started to train more and choreograph. After joining the crew, I realized dance could be more than just a hobby, but actually my career. In 2019, I booked my first professional job dancing in a Blink-182 music video. That same year, I became a resident dancer for Rose. Rabbit. Lie., a dinner theater show at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. In June 2022, I had the unforgettable experience of appearing on NBC’s Dancing With Myself (Season 1, Episode 4: “Hoops Don’t Lie”), alongside Shakira, Liza Koshy, and Nick Jonas, with Camille Kostek hosting. Most recently, I had the opportunity of performing with The Weeknd at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Dance has provided me so many amazing experiences, and I’m excited to keep growing in this art form.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Back in 2018, I was at a dance convention when I heard a quote that really stuck with me:
“Remember where you were, where you are now, and where you are going.”
That simple quote inspired me so much. At the time, I was living in North Dakota, and later that year, I moved to Las Vegas. Before coming here, I always looked up to professional dancers and hoped that maybe one day, I could be like them. Once I got to Vegas, it finally felt possible—like it wasn’t just a dream anymore. I still think about that quote a lot. Especially when I feel frustrated or like I’m not doing enough, it helps me remember how far I’ve already come. To anyone just starting out in dance, my advice would be to believe in yourself. Trust who you are and what you bring to the table, because you’re capable of so much more than you think.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Something I feel I’ve really grown in this year is my choreography. I’m super grateful to be part of Stadium Dance, an entertainment company based in Las Vegas. Over the past year, I’ve had the chance to not only perform with them, but also choreograph more than 20 routines. That’s the most I’ve ever done in a single year, and it’s helped me grow so much as a choreographer.
