Meet Lily Lomeli

We were lucky to catch up with Lily Lomeli recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lily, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My strength? It comes from facing a lot of tough times. I left my home to find my purpose, and had to start my whole life over. I lost jobs because I didn’t speak the language well. I trusted the wrong people and got hurt. My marriage fell apart because of addiction. I had a miscarriage. I lost my home because I didn’t have enough money. I had problems with my family. And at times, I even lost my faith.

But when you lose so much, you realize you have nothing more to lose. And that’s when you start to see things differently. You understand that if you still have yourself, and believe in yourself, you can keep going. Hitting rock bottom just means you have to bounce back up. I learned that every time I fell, I could get back up stronger. It’s about knowing that you can rebuild, no matter what.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I wear many hats, but at my core, I’m a passionate coach, speaker, and storyteller. I take the raw material of my own life experiences – the highs and the lows – and distill them into practical lessons that empower others. Whether it’s through one-on-one coaching, group workshops, online courses, or articles, my goal is to spark transformation.

What excites me most is seeing that “aha” moment in someone, that shift when they realize their own potential. I believe we all have the power to create meaningful change, and I see my role as igniting that inner flame.

I’m an adventurous coach, always open to new opportunities. I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse groups, from corporations like Panda Express to community organizations, sharing my story of resilience and promoting well-being. I’m currently focused on my two online courses: ‘Stronger Connections,’ which helps people build fulfilling relationships, and ‘Overcoming Mistakes,’ which focuses on resilience and personal growth. I also collaborate with the wellness coaching app, expanding my reach and impact.

Recently, I’ve been sharing my story and message on a national and international level through Thought Leader platforms, which has been an incredible experience. I believe in the power of sharing, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three key elements have been instrumental in my journey:

Consistent Discipline: Building anything worthwhile takes time and unwavering dedication. There will be days when motivation wanes, but discipline is the engine that keeps you moving forward. My advice: create small, achievable daily habits that align with your goals. Even tiny steps compound into significant progress.
Patient Strength: Good things take time. Be patient with yourself and the process. Strength isn’t about avoiding setbacks; it’s about weathering them. Remember that every “no” or detour is simply a redirection. My advice: cultivate a resilient mindset. Understand that setbacks are part of the journey and focus on learning from them.
Courageous Persistence: My personal mantra is to be strong and courageous. When one door closes, look for the next. If something doesn’t work, try something else. If you’re truly aligned with your purpose, there’s no better use of your energy than to keep pushing forward. My advice: embrace a “one step at a time” approach. Break down large goals into smaller, manageable tasks. Celebrating those small wins keeps you motivated and moving forward.
Essentially, it’s about showing up every day, being kind to yourself through the inevitable challenges, and never losing sight of your vision. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and every step counts.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is someone who resonates with my own journey. While we’re all unique, we share common threads of experience. I’m drawn to those who have navigated the ups and downs of life, who understand the resilience it takes to rise after setbacks.

Essentially, I work best with people who see a reflection of themselves in my story. They’ve faced similar challenges, felt similar pains, and are seeking the kind of transformation I’ve found. When I’m asked about my target audience, I simply say: people like me.

This approach allows me to be completely authentic. I can speak from the heart, share my hard-won lessons, and connect on a deeper level. There’s an effortless understanding because we’re speaking the same language, driven by similar desires. They’re looking for the kind of strength and growth I’ve cultivated, and I’m passionate about guiding them on that path
