Meet Lincoln Parish

We were lucky to catch up with Lincoln Parish recently and have shared our conversation below.

Lincoln, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
When working in any industry that is based in creativity, it can often be challenging to keep the inspiration fresh. For me personally I try and draw inspiration from all aspects of life whether it be something personal I’ve experienced or something I’ve seen and or felt. I believe inspiration is everywhere if you keep your mind open to it, sometimes it will strike you at the oddest times and the most unexpected places…

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a Nashville based music producer/mixing engineer/songwriter and musician.. In todays modern music business I’ve found it most beneficial to be able to wear several hats at once while also keeping the main goal in focus which for me is writing and producing songs that will have a lasting impact on peoples lives or even as simple as getting them thru something that they’re going thru.. I’m big on mental health and how music can be such a big part of that for people both on the creative side or from the listeners perspective…

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I personally believe the three biggest qualities to have in my industry but also just about any other industry is… 1.) Being honest with yourself and those that you’re working with, if you’re not being completely honest all the time it gets everyone nowhere.
2.) Showing up and doing the work even on the days you don’t feel like it.. Half of most any job or career is just showing up and doing what you do.. There’s a lot to be said for just answering the calls and showing up. Unfortunately, I see a lot of people lacking in this aspect of the music industry and other industries as well. As they say you miss all the shots you don’t take..
3.) Having a willingness and openness to hear other peoples opinions and ideas out even if you don’t initially agree with it, I think we can learn something from everyone we’re surrounded by even if your ideologies don’t align.. I constantly try to keep an open mind in every room I’m in..

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle had a profound affect on me personally about living in the moment and being present in every moment of life.. A lot of times this is a lot easier said than done but I found it to be very effective on accomplishing almost any task at hand.. Also, the book “The Law of Attraction” by Esther and Jerry Hicks – I truly believe you can’t accomplish the things we wish for without being able to fully envision it yourself.. Everything I’ve ever set out to accomplish, achieve or longed for I have either done or accomplished by just envisioning it and believing that there is nothing but ones own self who can get in the way of that goal..
