Meet Linda Joseph DThM

We recently connected with Linda Joseph DThM and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Linda, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I used to struggle with low self-esteem because of past childhood trauma. Recognizing that my low self-esteem was rooted in my past helped me begin my healing journey.

Without the benefit of therapy or family support, I had to find other ways to heal and grow. My faith and spiritual growth provided a strong foundation for me. My involvement in theology and ministry offered me comfort, strength, and a sense of purpose, which were pivotal in rebuilding my self-esteem.

I sought out supportive relationships within my community, finding encouragement and validation from friends, mentors, and colleagues. These positive connections gave me the strength to heal and grow.

Personal development became a key focus for me. I immersed myself in self-help books, attended workshops, and practiced mindfulness. These activities helped me develop a more positive self-image and provided tools for managing my emotions and thoughts.

Writing “Shemergence I Am She” and sharing my story through my memoir was a powerful form of self-expression and healing. Articulating my experiences and insights was incredibly cathartic and empowering.

Creating the WIWA organization and my mentorship programs allowed me to use my experiences to help others. This altruistic approach not only empowered those I mentored but also reinforced my own sense of worth and purpose.

I also learned to celebrate small wins. Acknowledging my progress, no matter how small, helped me build confidence incrementally. Each achievement, from completing my education to receiving accolades, added to my growing self-esteem.

Through these steps, I transformed my low self-esteem into a strong sense of confidence and self-worth. My journey has been challenging but deeply rewarding, and it has equipped me to inspire and uplift others on their own paths.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m Linda Joseph, and I’m thrilled to share my journey and passions with you. I wear many hats, including being an author, a pastor, a teacher, and a mentor. My memoir, “Shemergence I Am She,” has been a significant part of my story, winning a prestigious international book award in the memoir category. This book allowed me to share my journey of overcoming childhood trauma and finding my true self, which has been incredibly rewarding and transformative.

In addition to my personal growth journey, I’m deeply involved in empowering others through WIWA (Women Inspiring Women Always), guiding and inspiring women of all ages to unlock their potential. Our programs focus on healing, personal growth, and empowerment.

As a pastor and teacher at a chaplaincy school, I guide others on spiritual journeys, drawing from my doctoral research on the significance and practice of Holy Communion in contemporary worship.

My Emerge and Empower Podcast TV and Emerge and Empower Magazine share stories of resilience and transformation, focusing on individuals overcoming traumatic experiences and empowering others.

In the realm of pageantry, I’ve had the honor of representing as Mrs. South Florida Plus America in both 2023 and 2024. I proudly won the title of Florida Plus Ambassador at the Florida Finals in 2024 and am now preparing to compete as The Florida Ultimate Woman Plus America at the Miss Plus America National Pageant in Houston Texas.

I’m excited to celebrate beauty, confidence, and diversity at the national level, modeling designer gowns and accessories as part of this empowering experience. Thank you for joining me on this journey of empowerment and transformation.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1. Resilience: Developing resilience was crucial in overcoming challenges and setbacks. It allowed me to bounce back stronger from adversity and continue pursuing my goals despite obstacles.

– Advice: Cultivate resilience by reframing setbacks as opportunities for growth. Practice self-care to maintain mental and emotional well-being during tough times. Surround yourself with supportive people who uplift and encourage you.

2. Self-Reflection and Awareness: Increasing my self-awareness helped me understand my strengths, weaknesses, and the impact of past experiences on my journey. It enabled me to make informed decisions and navigate personal growth effectively.

– Advice: Engage in regular self-reflection through journaling, meditation, or discussions with trusted mentors. Seek feedback from others to gain different perspectives and insights. Embrace personal development activities that foster self-awareness, such as mindfulness practices or personality assessments.

3. Continuous Learning and Adaptability:: Embracing a mindset of continuous learning allowed me to expand my knowledge, skills, and perspectives. Being adaptable enabled me to navigate changes and seize new opportunities as they arose.

– Advice: Commit to lifelong learning by pursuing formal education, attending workshops, or reading books relevant to your interests and goals. Stay curious and open-minded to different ideas and perspectives. Embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.

For those early in their journey, here’s my advice:

– Set Clear Goals: Define your aspirations and create actionable steps to achieve them. Break larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks to maintain momentum and celebrate progress along the way.

– Build a Support Network: Surround yourself with mentors, peers, and friends who believe in your potential and can offer guidance and encouragement. Seek out communities or groups that align with your interests and values.

– Embrace Resilience: Understand that setbacks are part of the journey. Develop coping strategies to bounce back from challenges and setbacks stronger than before. Use adversity as a catalyst for personal growth and learning.

– Invest in Self-Care: Prioritize your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Establish healthy habits that recharge and energize you. Practice self-compassion and forgiveness as you navigate challenges and setbacks.

By cultivating resilience, enhancing self-awareness, and embracing continuous learning, individuals can build a solid foundation for personal and professional growth. Remember, each step forward, no matter how small, brings you closer to realizing your aspirations and making a positive impact on the world around you.
