We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Linden Wilson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Linden below.
Linden, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by immersing myself in nature. Nature is a constant source of inspiration; the colors, textures, and light in the natural world bring out new perspectives and ideas that I love to incorporate into my work. Spending time outdoors always allows me to clear my mind and tap into a creative flow, and provides me new locations to create in the more I explore.
My creativity is also inspired by high fashion. It helps me experiment with styles, poses, and compositions, enriching my visual storytelling.
The blend of nature and fashion fuels my imagination and keeps my photography evolving in exciting ways.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Linden! A wedding photographer based in Colorado, but always available for travel to document love. My style of photography is ethereal, nostalgic, colorful, and a bit moody. I lean into movement, storytelling, and helping my couples be their authentic selves in front of the camera.
My mission is not just about taking beautiful photos—it’s about forming genuine personal connections with couples as they trust me to document their love story. Each wedding is unique, and I’m honored to be part of such important milestones, preserving memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. The joy of seeing couples relive those moments through my photos makes every experience rewarding, and it’s what fuels my passion for this art.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Artistic Vision – Understanding camera settings, lighting, and composition is essential, but equally important is the ability to capture the emotions, details, and story of the day creatively. A wedding photographer should have a strong eye for details and the ability to frame moments beautifully, even under varying light and conditions.
2. Trust – Weddings are highly emotional and can be fast-paced, so a wedding photographer must be personable, calm, and adaptable. Building trust with the couple, making them feel comfortable, and maintaining positive interactions with guests are crucial to capturing natural, candid moments and managing the day smoothly.
3. Adaptability – Weddings can be unpredictable, with changes in weather, timing, and unexpected moments that can arise at any time. A wedding photographer must be flexible and quick-thinking, able to adjust their approach seamlessly while maintaining a calm, positive demeanor. Whether it’s shifting locations due to rain or quickly capturing a spontaneous moment, adaptability ensures they can deliver beautiful images no matter the circumstances.
Advice to creatives starting out in the wedding photography industry, I’d say don’t stop creating, photographing, and finding inspiration. Network and work with other photographers or wedding vendors. Build trust by collaborating with many different clients even if it’s unpaid just to get experience, exposure, and feedback.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m always looking for new couples to create with on their wedding day, or for an engagement or fun couples photo session. My ideal clients and who I’m so incredibly lucky to work with are those who are down to get creative, be adventurous, lean into the present moment, and are just ready to have FUN.
