We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lindsey Christian a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsey, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Both my grandfather and my dad started their businesses from scratch. From an early age a hard work ethic was instilled watching their businesses grow and flourish in the community.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a lifestyle family photographer here in the Golden Isles ( Saint Simons Island, GA). My favorite part of being a photographer in a tourist destination is meeting so many wonderful families visiting our special little slice of paradise here on the Georgia coast. Making friendships with families that return for photos year after year. That is what makes my job so rewarding!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Take advantage of friends or family members willing to be subjects for your first photo sessions. That way you will have a portfolio to show and from there word of mouth from friends and family members can be a great help! Social media was also a pivotal step in my journey of becoming a business owner – putting yourself out there was one of my biggest fears that has now become one of my biggest blessings.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
A fun easy going family! Children feed off of your energy, so let’s show up ready to have FUN at our session! No stress needed 🙂
