We were lucky to catch up with Lindsey Jensen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsey, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?
I didn’t grow up thinking of myself as a risk-taker. I became one out of necessity. There were moments in my life and career where staying comfortable wasn’t an option anymore. I learned to trust myself by showing up, doing the work, and proving to myself that I could survive uncertainty. Starting Rockin’ Locks was scary and many couldn’t wrap their heads around the logistics of a mobile salon. I knew if I worked hard enough, stayed flexible, and kept my values intact, I could build something meaningful. Taking risks stopped feeling reckless and started feeling like self-trust.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Rockin’ Locks is a mobile hair salon, but at its core it’s about meeting people where they are—literally and emotionally. We bring professional hair services directly to clients, whether that’s in RV parks, remote locations, or communities that don’t always have easy access to salons. What makes it special is the connection. The chair becomes a safe space, a place where people feel seen, heard, and taken care of.
What excites me most is the freedom it creates—for my clients and for me. We’ve built a brand that’s flexible, inclusive, and a little unconventional, and that’s very intentional. Rockin Locks isn’t about luxury walls or fancy mirrors; it’s about quality work, genuine relationships, and showing up consistently.
I also love that our brand embraces real life. We work out of trailers, travel for clients, laugh a lot, and don’t take ourselves too seriously—while still taking our craft very seriously.
As we continue to grow, we’re expanding our reach through additional mobile units, collaborations, and community-focused events. My goal is to keep growing without losing the soul of what makes Rockin’ Locks feel personal, approachable, and real.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most impactful things for me were resilience, adaptability, and self-trust. Resilience taught me how to keep going when things didn’t go as planned. Adaptability mattered because my business—and life—constantly required me to pivot. And self-trust was the biggest one; once I believed I could make decisions and recover from mistakes, everything moved faster.
My advice to anyone early in their journey is to master your craft, stay flexible, and don’t wait until you feel ‘ready.’ Confidence comes from doing, not planning perfectly.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Several people played a huge role in helping me grow. Stephanie, Melissa and Trish have been constant sources of support. John (Aka Safety Steve) is an absolute godsend, he’salways early, looking ahead and keeping us honest, I’m also grateful his wife is accepting of him working erratic hours. And my Arizona parents, lovingly known as ‘The Rents,’ gave me unwavering belief, stability, and the kind of support that makes taking risks feel possible. I truly wouldn’t be where I am without them.
