We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lindsey Kiesgen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Lindsey with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic as a photographer is fueled by a genuine love for what I do. I’ve learned that when you are passionate about something, you naturally invest time, energy, and effort into it. I genuinely enjoy every part of the process, from consulting and brainstorming ideas to building my portfolio, capturing moments, and refining them through editing. As a self-taught photographer, I embrace learning as a continuous journey. For example, I remember spending countless hours watching YouTube tutorials when I was first mastering photo editing software. Fast-forward a few years, and editing has become one of my favorite aspects of the process, allowing me to bring each photo to life and truly express my creative vision. Photography is not just a job—it’s a passion that keeps me learning, creating, and evolving.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a fine arts and lifestyle photographer based in Atlanta, Georgia. After years of education and a fulfilling career as an audiologist, I never lost sight of my passion for photography. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with incredible artists who have profoundly influenced my growth as a photographer.
My work has been featured in galleries and I recently curated an art gallery pop-up in Atlanta, which was a truly rewarding experience. After wrapping up a busy holiday season with family portraits, I’m excited to dive into weddings and events in the new year. I love being a fly on the wall at events—observing and capturing candid moments that tell stories.
Friends and family often joke that I keep busy, and I wholeheartedly agree. My next project is converting a coat closet in my home into a darkroom to develop film and print photos for both personal and collaborative projects. This passion for continuous learning and exploration reflects my dedication to my craft and my strong work ethic.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three personal skills that have significantly impacted my journey are diligence, patience, and attention to detail. Diligence has kept me focused and committed to my personal goals. Patience is essential—both with myself and others—because I believe that good things take time. Attention to detail ensures that I stay organized and approach every task, especially creative projects, with intentionality and care.
If you’re just starting your journey as a photographer, my advice is to look within. Passion is a powerful driving force and can take you places beyond your wildest dreams. Always remember to focus on the big picture, allowing your love for the craft to guide your path.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
As a member of the art community, I deeply value the importance of teamwork. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Atlanta artist Zoe Antona at her studio, where we brainstormed ways to collaborate. This conversation evolved into a documentary-style project, where I followed her artistic journey—from consulting with a collector to working on a specific piece and eventually installing it in their home.
This photo series is now part of a larger project I’m working on with other artists, capturing their creative processes in a way that feels raw and authentic. Documenting artists in their element allows for powerful storytelling through images that truly convey their journey.
I’m always excited to connect with artists of various skillsets, and Instagram is a great platform to collaborate and share these experiences with the artistic community.
