We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lindsey Perry. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lindsey below.
Lindsey, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I credit my work ethic to the example set by my parents. Growing up, I watched them work hard without ever making it feel like a burden—they never complained or spoke negatively about their jobs. It was simply something they committed to with consistency, and I always had the sense they took pride in their work.
Beyond my upbringing, I’ve intentionally surrounded myself with people who value hard work, especially throughout school, work, and now in business. I’ve found that energy to be contagious, and I try to keep close to those who push themselves with integrity.
In high school, I was heavily involved in 4-H and FFA—serving on leadership teams, raising livestock, and competing across various events. Those experiences demanded discipline and accountability, and made it clear that success was never possible without real effort behind it. That carried into college at Texas A&M, where I was immersed in a community of driven, engaged students and where I had the chance to sharpen those habits even further.
Before running my business full-time, I spent eight years teaching high school Career and Technology Education. Helping students grow personally and professionally meant I had to model those same values myself—including a strong work ethic. Teaching others to develop it deepened my own.
All of that prepared me for the demands of entrepreneurship—where no one is telling you what to do or how to do it. It’s entirely on me to keep the business moving forward. Knowing that my own effort directly determines the outcome keeps me focused, disciplined, and always looking for ways to grow.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m Lindsey Perry, founder and lead designer of The Sunrise Petal Company—a wedding and event floral design studio based in Central Texas (Lockhart/Austin), with clients across the state and beyond. Our team brings a purposefully eclectic style to each event. We believe our role goes beyond just arranging pretty blooms; we’re here to celebrate new beginnings and craft meaningful experiences for every couple. We love color, to giggle and laugh, and find our joy and purpose in celebrating with others through the medium of flowers that we style unlike any other.
Our magic comes from diving deep into each couple’s vibe and bringing it to life in a way that’s authentically theirs and exceeds all expectations. Our flowers are known as the stars of the show, literally dropping jaws and stopping people in their tracks. Our team brings smiles, laughter, and comfort to every event through a welcoming presence. There’s something truly special in seeing a room come alive through flowers, knowing they’ll spark joy, lasting memories, and celebration.
We’re a woman-led, primarily mother-run studio that gets things done—with passion, grit, and just the right amount of caffeine. We balance creativity with precision, bring calm when the chaos hits, and carry the kind of quiet confidence only women who juggle it all can pull off. At the end of the day, you’re not just getting the flowers—you’re getting us. We’re goofballs and pros, and that’s exactly what makes us charming.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, there are three things that have made the biggest impact on my journey: creativity, communication, and understanding my finances.
Creativity is a muscle— and I’m lucky it comes natural to me. some people are born with it, others have to work it, but either way, it needs to be exercised. For me, creativity comes from a mix of collaborative moments and quiet time alone to play. I treat hobbies as more than just relaxation—they’re a space for my mind to reset and make room for new ideas. Whether it’s gardening, thrifting, going on a hot-girl-walk or just listening to music, those small creative outlets always help me show up stronger in my work. You have to make space for creativity to show up.
Communication is a skill that takes perspective and real effort. Being clear, honest, and helpful—especially when emotions or stakes are high—sets you apart in business and in life. I’ve learned to consider how others might receive or interpret information and to lead with kindness and clarity. Whether you’re delivering a simple email update or navigating a tough conversation, how you communicate matters. I’d argue it’s the most important skill in any relationship— business or personal. (We work in weddings, so yes, I’m definitely including marriage!)
Financial knowledge is probably the most underestimated but essential part of running a successful business (and managing your personal life, too). You can design the most beautiful work in the world, but if your numbers aren’t in check, the business won’t last. Trusting a great CPA and bookkeeper changed everything for me. There are so many layers to managing finances—budgeting, paying yourself and your team, understanding margins, planning for taxes, handling debt, and big investments. It’s okay not to know everything, but it’s not okay to ignore it. Ask questions, hire help, and get a mentor. There’s no shame in learning as you go. We ALL do. There are no dumb questions when it comes to the health and longevity of your business.
Mastering these three areas is what’s allowed me to build something beautiful—not just on the outside, but underneath it all, too.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
We design for couples who care about how their wedding feels—not just how it looks. They want more than pretty. They want personal, full of feeling, and just a little bit magic—like walking into a daydream that could only belong to them.
Our kind of people are warm, curious, and a little playful. They value beautiful design, but also kindness, clarity, and a human touch. They want florals that feel alive, not formulaic—full of movement, story, and soul. They understand that flowers are more than decoration—they’re the atmosphere, the energy, the magic.
They’ve got full plates—and need someone they can trust to take the reins.
Most of our couples are navigating busy careers, big life changes, or just general planning overwhelm. They find us when they’re ready to hand off the stress and trust a team who can turn their ideas into something elevated and effortless.
They appreciate eclectic design with a unique, heirloom-inspired flair.
Our style is known for being jaw-dropping and joy-filled—flowers that stop people in their tracks, but still feel grounded and intentional. Our clients aren’t interested in trends for trend’s sake or copy-paste Pinterest boards. They want something personal, artful, and unexpected— florals that spark emotion and leave a lasting impression.
They’re doing it their way.
We work especially well with couples who don’t feel tied to others’ expectations; they may have nontraditional stories, modern families, or unexpected design ideas that don’t look like anyone else’s—we love that. The more “true to you,” the better.
They want real connection with their vendors.
We’re not a faceless service or a template-driven studio. We’re a team you’ll remember and our clients are drawn to that. They feel comfortable with us. They appreciate our balance of warmth, humor, and calm confidence. They feel safe with us in their corner—and that matters, because weddings can be emotional and wonderfully vulnerable.
They trust the process.
They know the best magic happens when we’re trusted to interpret the vision and run with it. With good communication and creative freedom, we’re able to create designs that truly wow.
We might not be the right fit for…
Couples looking for traditional and tight florals, the lowest quote in town, those who see florals as just another checkbox or want to be involved in each stem placement. Our work is custom, intuitive, and built on trust.
A note on investment: We’re a luxury design studio because we pour time, select product, bespoke designs and expertise into everything we do—but we’re also flexible and collaborative and happy to explore creative ways to make the most of your investment while still giving you that jaw-dropping impact we’re known for.
If you’re dreaming big, care deeply about how the day feels, and want a team that will celebrate with you while also absolutely nailing the florals— We’re probably your kind of people.
