Meet Lindy Rebro

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lindy Rebro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindy, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resiliency comes from a combination of life experiences and a deep sense of purpose. Moving across the country from Washington state to Georgia was a pivotal moment for me -it taught me how to adapt, rebuild, and persevere through uncertainty. Starting my photography career later in my mid thirties also required a lot of courage and determination, especially when self-doubt crept in. More than anything, my resiliency is rooted in my desire to create meaningful work for my clients and provide them with tangible memories for their families. Knowing I’m building something that truly matters fuels my ability to push through challenges and keep growing!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

As a Navy family, my husband’s grandparents lived on St. Simons Island in the 1960s. When we had the chance to visit the Golden Isles with them in 2009, I felt an immediate connection to the warmth and beauty of the area. That feeling stayed with me, and since moving here, I’ve been excited to grow my photography services and serve a wide range of clients from locals to visitors.

Coming from a family of small business owners, I have a deep appreciation for local entrepreneurs. Supporting and collaborating with small, local businesses is a passion of mine -I love telling their stories visually and helping them shine. Our area was voted 2024’s Best Islands in the U.S. for the second year in a row, and with a thriving tourism industry, I find so much joy in capturing special memories for visitors staying at our beautiful island resorts. Whether I’m photographing a family on the beaches of Jekyll Island, documenting a marsh-side wedding on St. Simons, or helping a Golden Isles business owner bring their vision to life, my goal is always the same: to create joyful, meaningful experiences and images that make you smile every time you see them!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been adaptability, relationship-building, and an endless curiosity to keep learning. Adaptability was a must -moving across the country and starting my business in a new market felt a little like jumping off a cliff with a parachute I was still learning to pack. Somehow, I landed on my feet!
Building relationships has been just as important because, no one succeeds alone. Connecting with clients, joining the local Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce and networking groups in my community has been helpful. Finding people who lift me up and root me on through the highs and lows.

And lastly there’s the learning -I’ve never stopped seeking out new ways to grow, whether it’s improving my skills or figuring out how to run a business that truly serves others. You can bet you’ll find me listening to a podcast, taking a class, or reading a book of something I want to improve!

For anyone starting out, my advice is this: embrace challenges with an open mind and know that growth often comes from stepping far beyond your comfort zone. Invest in genuine relationships with people who inspire and support you, and don’t be afraid to take that first step. Growth is a journey, and every small step forward adds up to something meaningful.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely! I’m always excited to collaborate with local businesses here in the Golden Isles, especially those in tourism, like resorts, food, clothing boutiques, or experience-based companies. Since I work with a lot of tourists and families visiting the area, I’d love to find ways we can mutually benefit one another and create unique partnerships that highlight the best of what this beautiful area has to offer.

I believe in building connections that go beyond just taking photos. I want to help tell your brand’s story in a way that not only elevates your business but also creates a deeper sense of community and connection for visitors and locals alike. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, let’s connect! You can reach out through my website or social media—I’d love to brainstorm how we can work together.
