We recently connected with Linnea Nelson and have shared our conversation below.
Linnea, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my desire to be successful. I know that in order to get to where I want to be, I must work for it. It’s not going to just happen out of nowhere. People often say work smarter not harder. I say “work smarter and harder, then you’ll be unstoppable!” The harder I work, the further I’ll get and I want to go far!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m the founder of Givin’ Me Life, a lifestyle brand that inspires and helps people to live their best lives through fun and unique experiences. Our mission is the provide inspiration and opportunities for people to experience life in new, fun and different ways. We create content and produce experiences to help fulfill that mission. We focus on new and/or unique places to go and things to do, so as you can imagine, this is a very exciting job to have and why I created this job for myself. But for me this is not only about having a good time, it’s my passion and my way of making a difference in the lives my community. Speaking of which, we have some really great experiences in store for our community, so be on the lookout!
Also, some people may not know, but I have a marketing background, which comes in handy as a content creator, but has also allowed me to help others with brand development, social media marketing & experiential marketing, all of which I hope to do more of.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are my ambition, creativity and passion. I would tell those early in their journey to find their passion. It’s much easier to give your all for something you love. To improve on creativity, I recommend not being afraid to use your imagination or afraid to be different. Different is good! Also, don’t keep those ideas to yourself. Share even if you’re not sure if it’s good because you never know how well it could be received or you might spark an idea in someone else.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
We talked a lot about hard work, however hard work can sometimes make us feel overwhelmed. I recommend making lists and prioritizing. Determine what has to be done now and what can wait. However, don’t wait too long because procrastination contributes to being overwhelmed also. Don’t wait until the last minute to get things done. And remember to ask for help if you need it. Oh, and don’t forget to have fun!
