We were lucky to catch up with Lisa Craft recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
For me, self-care is non-negotiable. I carve out time every single day for some kind of movement—whether it’s mountain biking, golfing, or just a long walk outside to clear my head. The biggest impact has been clarity—I make sharper decisions, communicate better with my team, and no longer feel like I’m operating from a place of burnout. It’s amazing how much stronger your work can be when you’re taking care of yourself first.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the founder of the Adventure Dating App—a first-of-its-kind platform that flips the script on modern dating. Instead of endless swiping and awkward small talk, we’re building connections through experiences. Think kayaking, biking, hiking trails—activities where people actually get to know each other in real life. What excites me most is seeing how quickly genuine chemistry forms when people are out in the world, doing something fun, versus staring at a screen.
We’re also in an exciting growth phase. We just rolled out new features that pair users with adventure partners based on shared lifestyle values, not just profile photos. My goal has always been to make dating less about algorithms and more about real, human experiences—and we’re proving that’s exactly what people are craving.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
First, resilience. Startups will test you in ways you can’t anticipate, and being able to ride the ups and downs is critical. Second, curiosity. I’m constantly asking questions—about my users, about the industry, about how to do things better. That willingness to learn has opened so many doors. And third, community building. From users to my own team, cultivating strong relationships has been the backbone of our growth.
For anyone starting out, my advice is: don’t try to develop everything at once. Focus on resilience first—just keep going, even when it feels messy. Then feed your curiosity by reading, networking, and trying new things. Finally, start small with community—build one genuine relationship at a time, and it will snowball faster than you expect.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
Our ideal user is someone who’s tired of the superficiality of swiping culture and is craving something real. They’re adventurous by nature—not necessarily extreme-sports adventurous, but open-minded and willing to try new things. They value experiences over things, and they see dating as an opportunity to create memories, not just check boxes. Ultimately, our best users are the ones who come to the app ready to invest in meaningful connection—and who understand that love often shows up when you’re out there living life fully.
