Hi Lisa, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience, I believe, comes from a combination of my passion for what I do and my inherent desire to always be growing and learning. Over the years, the ever-evolving world of hair color and texture treatments has taught me to be adaptable and to embrace change – traits that have served me well in my personal life as well. I also have an amazing community of friends, family, and colleagues who have supported and inspired me through the ups and downs of my career. This journey has been filled with challenges, but the rewards – especially the joy on a client’s face when they see their new look – make it all worthwhile.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
In essence, I’m an artist whose canvas is hair. My role as a colorist and texture treatment specialist allows me to transform someone’s look and uplift their confidence. What’s truly exciting about my work is the chance to create unique, bespoke styles that enhance each client’s natural beauty and personality.

We firmly believe in the transformative power of personal expression and strive to assist each client in discovering their unique signature style. Our salon is not merely a place for hair and beauty services, but a sanctuary for self-discovery and personal growth. With our expert stylists and personalized approach, we create an immersive experience that goes beyond traditional salon services. From our carefully curated atmosphere to our tailored consultations, we are dedicated to providing a space where clients can fully express themselves and embark on a journey of self-transformation. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, I believe the three most impactful qualities that have shaped my career are adaptability, continual learning, and a client-centric approach.
Adaptability: In an industry that is constantly evolving, being able to adapt to new trends, techniques, and client needs is paramount. My advice to those starting out would be to stay open-minded and flexible, always ready to embrace change.
Continual Learning: Keeping oneself updated with the latest in the industry has helped me stay ahead. It’s crucial, especially for those early in their journey, to invest time in learning and refining their craft. Attend workshops, seminars, and stay curious.
Client-centric Approach: Understanding the unique needs and desires of each client has been central to my work. Listen to your clients, understand their needs, and make them feel valued. In the end, it’s their satisfaction that determines your success.
In terms of advice for the newcomers, remember that starting can be hard, but perseverance is key. Embrace every opportunity as a learning experience, never be afraid to ask for help, and don’t be too hard on yourself. This journey is as much about personal growth as it is about professional development, and I promise it’s worth it.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The most influential person in overcoming challenges and developing the essential skills necessary for my success has undoubtedly been my husband, Andrew Edwards. He has been my rock, my biggest cheerleader, and my constant source of wisdom throughout my career. Andrew’s unwavering belief in my abilities, even in times of doubt, has continuously pushed me to strive for excellence, to take risks, and to see every setback as an opportunity for growth. His pragmatic perspective and business acumen have also been instrumental in shaping Sunday Salon into the successful brand it is today. From strategic planning to day-to-day operations, Andrew’s expertise and insights have been invaluable. His support extends beyond the professional realm as well – his constant encouragement and understanding have helped me maintain a healthy work-life balance, enabling me to flourish both as an individual and a professional.
