We were lucky to catch up with Lisa Ehler-curley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
How I found my purpose, and how it has served me well.
When I was just 9 years old, I developed chronic migraine headaches. I remember being in school one day and my head felt like it was going to explode. That same day I had to leave school when I started vomiting from the intense pain.
I loved school so having to leave was no fun. I remember sitting in the backseat of the car as my mom was driving me home, wishing I could take my head off and fix it, and then put it back on. That’s how my nine year old mind thought, but it didn’t stop there because after that came a lifetime of chronic pain, but more importantly, my unique ways of dealing with it.
Since a young age, God instilled in me a holistic and creative mind. I saw how people around me dealt with pain by using medications or anti-depressants, and I vowed to approach my life differently. It hasn’t always been easy, but that foundational mindset helped to stay on the path. It’s not that I don’t have pain, in fact, if you’ve ever had migraines, you know pain. It’s not even that I don’t have other symptoms like MCAS, I just deal with my symptoms in the most effective way I can.
My purpose became even more evident when I started working as a practitioner in holistic health over 20 years ago, helping other people to get healthy and create a zero tolerance kind of attitude. Zero tolerance for excuses or reasons not, and use those same reasons for WHY it is possible.
My purpose today has evolved into helping women living with chronic pain and auto immune conditions to create the best life possible, a life on their terms. When I am actively helping other women to champion their inner warrior, I feel that I am living out my purpose. This purpose of mine is an important one as I believe that women are the heart of the family and have the most important job on earth, as a mother or caretaker, as one who often helps others in spite of her own needs.
Living in my purpose helps me to make sense of all that I have gone through, and doesn’t allow my own suffering to be for nothing. I am grateful for my purpose and who I have become. Life is a gift, and purpose is like the icing on the cake.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I got involved in sports at a young age, and this helped me deal with my chronic migraines. When I was riding bikes or competing in running or swimming, I noticed the pain would lessen.
This led to my additional career choice of becoming a personal trainer focused on women living with chronic pain. I have spent the last 12 years helping other women stay active and learn how to exercise safely and effectively.
I started my LLC over 10 years ago, called Fibro Fit People.
I started my website 12 years ago, Living Smarter With Fibromyalgia and online social media pages along with a 9 week program that helps women go on a journey of self discovery while using various tools and techniques to deal with pain in a more effective way.
I love seeing women go from tears of pain to tears of joy when they accomplish even small wins.
I use my after care group as a way to keep students engaged and consistent with their progress, because healing the mind, body, and spirit is not linear, there will be ups and downs, but consistency is key.
I like to ask the question “What is possible?” for each of us.
And because our future generations are always being influenced by us, what we do and how we live has a great impact on our children and grand children.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe my knowledge in health and my God given creativity in this area has been most impactful in my journey. This has helped me to create tools and programs that intelligently AND intuitively help to heal the body.
This understanding has also come from years of experience in working closely with people , and I would say that as we grow and evolve, we become better at knowing how to support others.
Coaching others takes time and having the discipline to “walk the talk”
in my case, It also takes a tough love approach. We have to learn to decipher between enabling and supporting.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking for practitioners, coaches. or leaders to collaborate with. I would love to get on a podcast or interview. I can be contacted at [email protected]
