We were lucky to catch up with Lisa Gambon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lisa, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My family has always been my first priority, and becoming a mother shaped so much of who I am. But it was after the birth of my fourth child that I truly discovered my purpose. During that experience, I recognized how vulnerable and overlooked mothers can feel in the hospital setting — and I was inspired to create something better. That inspiration, along with a lot of prayer, led me to found my company and develop our flagship product Skin to Skin Gowns, a patented gown that provides both comfort and security for moms and their babies during the crucial Golden Hour after delivery.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the founder of Skin to Skin Gowns, a Cleveland-based company born out of both personal experience and purpose. After delivering four children of my own, I saw firsthand how standard hospital gowns often leave mothers feeling exposed and overlooked during one of the most meaningful moments of their lives. I wanted to change that.
Our patented Skin to Skin Gown was designed to blend comfort, dignity, and function, allowing moms to stay covered and confident through labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. What makes it truly special is its “one gown, three uses” design — it can be worn during labor for modesty and movement, during the Golden Hour for safe skin-to-skin bonding, and afterward for nursing, lounging, or anytime a mom wants to hold her baby close.
What excites me most is knowing that this simple change in design can completely transform the birth experience — helping new moms feel secure, connected, and celebrated. My goal is to bring greater awareness to the Golden Hour and the powerful benefits of skin-to-skin bonding, while expanding access to these gowns in hospitals, birth centers, and online for expecting mothers everywhere.
We’re currently focused on growing partnerships with birthing professionals and retail partners, and I’m thrilled to continue spreading the message that every mom deserves both comfort and connection as she welcomes her baby into the world.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are passion, persistence, and faithfulness.
Passion is what started it all. Skin to Skin Gowns was born out of my deep desire to make a difference for new moms and help them experience childbirth with comfort, dignity, and connection. When you’re truly passionate about your purpose, it becomes the fuel that keeps you going — even when the work is hard or the path feels uncertain.
Persistence has carried me through every stage of this journey. Starting something new requires patience and perseverance; there are always obstacles and moments of doubt. My advice for others is simple — keep showing up. Small, consistent steps forward add up to something beautiful over time.
And above all, faithfulness has guided me — both in trusting God’s timing and in staying true to the mission He placed on my heart. For anyone early in their journey, remember that your path won’t always be straight, but if you stay faithful to your calling and keep your heart rooted in purpose, you’ll find your way.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely!! I’m always open to connecting and collaborating with individuals and organizations who share a passion for maternal wellness and supporting new moms. I welcome partnerships with birth professionals, hospitals, birthing centers, doulas, lactation consultants, retailers, and wellness advocates who are dedicated to improving the childbirth and postpartum experience.
In addition to the Skin to Skin Gowns, I also offer speaking engagements and educational sessions focused on the importance of skin-to-skin bonding, the Golden Hour, and postpartum wellness. My goal is to bring greater awareness to this critical time for both mom and baby, while helping care providers and communities create environments that honor connection and recovery.
