We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lisa Garcia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lisa below.
Lisa, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my dad. My siblings and I were raised to work for whatever we want and I started my first job at 15. I worked a variety of jobs through high school while managing theater and athletics. My dad was and still is very persistent in never giving up no matter how difficult life is or what you’re going through. My dad has been through so much medically and financially but he never let us see him give up or slow down. He worked through an unimaginable pain and i’ll never forget that. His influence on my work ethic, independence, and integrity will never be forgotten and I couldn’t be more grateful to have him as my biggest influence.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My long-term goal is to work my business full time and hire employees. Currently, I work full time and do my buisness on the side. Weekends, evenings, etc! I’m very fortunate to make my own schedule when it comes to balloons and also have customers who are accommodating! I’ve always been so interested and loved to decorate for birthdays and events! I’ve always been creative as well as a perfectionist so that has benefited me in the end and has served as a quality that I can promise my customers. I did a small balloon garland for my husband birthday in October of 2024 and literally said “What if I did this more?”. And that’s exactly what I did! I put my own money into supplies, equipment, advertising and have grown slowly and improved my skills and quality tremendously. I created my own contract and now own an LLC and I know that I can only grow from here! I look back on my first display and compare it to my most recent and I am always in awe. I am so proud of myself for my improvement and how much i’ve grown within the last year. I’m thankful for the support from my family and friends and can’t wait to see where Lisa’s Party Palette goes!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My social skills, passion, and perfectionism are the three biggest factors that impacted my journey. These three qualities and traits has improved my business as well as myself. Many people see some of these skills as challenging or negative but it truly has made my business into what it is. My biggest advice to anyone who is starting their own business or trying to grow would be to never give up and always have an open mind to changes and challenges that come your way!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents have done for me was make me work, save, and pay my own phone bill, cars insurance, etc. Even though I was 15, I was expected to work and pay my bills and i’m always so grateful for that. It molded me into a leader who’s independent, hardworking, and charismatic. Learning valuable traits at a young age will always be something i’m proud of and not something many get to experience or learn.
