We were lucky to catch up with Lisa King recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My parents were both extremely hard working and instilled this in me from a very young age. I was definitely raised with an attitude that one could accomplish anything they wanted if they worked hard and persevered towards their goals. I definitely always believed this to be true. I knew nothing was going to be handed to me. I was always willing to work towards whatever goal was on the horizon for me!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am extremely passionate about empowering women to look and feel their best at any age through my platform The Fulfilled Pharmacist.
I truly believe that when we do even one thing to improve our health it fills us with a sense of confidence so we can keep moving forward towards our goals and dreams.
Midlife can be an exciting time, but a bit challenging to navigate due to hormonal shifts. Sharing lifestyle changes to prevent disease and to encourage women to live life to the fullest is always my goal .
Many women also live with bladder issues and suffer in silence. I know this first hand from a previous Interstitial Cystitis diagnosis, I also share about many aspects of bladder health from bladder pain, Overactive Bladder to urinary tract infections. My hope is always to give hope to women living with bladder issues.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three biggest things that helped me to develop my platform was patience, shifting when needed and doing it even when I wasn’t sure if I was ready to do what I was doing!
I have been seriously sharing on my platform for about five years now. I recently have been collaborating with absolutely amazing brands. This did not happen overnight. I always stay about what is to come. It takes time to build relationships. Just keep going!
I also shifted my direction when I felt what I was doing was not right for me. I was concentrating on sharing bladder health but overall health contributes to bladder health so that is what I share now. I am super passionate about not only living a long life but a long , fulfilled and vibrant life! When you feel you want to change direction, do not be hesitant to make that shift!
My last tip is to just do it! I often hear that women are hesitant to share them on video. My videos five years ago look nothing like my videos today. Practice makes perfect in all aspects of business!
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
I absolutely love the book Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist.
When I was younger I had an inclination to do more, be more, never stop. One of the biggest shifts I’ve had in midlife is to work on self care and allowing myself to experience joy in my life.
For those who are always seeking the next thing but who truly want to find peace from within, I highly recommend this book!
